KateNZ | 4101 comments Don’t you love it when you see a child encountering a favourite story for the first time?!

I dug out our old copy of ‘Where The Wild Things Are’ yesterday afternoon for Miss Florence, my 21 month old bookworm of a granddaughter, and she was entranced from the first page. Multiple readings later, she sat in her car seat on the way to the shops telling herself the story. Particularly prominent were references to ‘Wild Things!’, ‘roar terrible roar’, ‘[scribble scribble] claws’ ... and the latest fave phrase is now ‘Be Still!!’ Applied equally to boisterous dogs, ducks and people ...

I agree with Robin - superior communications skills.

KateNZ | 4101 comments She’s a chatty one - not quite as early a talker as her father but so engaging. Last night I asked her ‘what does Max say?’ expecting ‘Be Still!’ but she said ‘I’ll eat you up!’ And then laughed, uproariously.

Jgrace | 3947 comments This was one of my favorite read-aloud with kinder classes. It was so much fun to get the whole group to roar their terrible roars on cue.
The added advantage was that I had the book completely memorized before my first child was born. With the second one, 7 years later, I could 'read' the bedtime story when I was practically asleep myself.

Kate, she sounds adorable! And ornery...

Where the wild things are made such an impact on me as a child. It resonated deeply with me (and still does).
