Lackless Door and Box

“Seven things has Lady Lackless
Keeps them underneath her black dress
One a ring that’s not for wearing
One a sharp word, not for swearing
Right beside her husband’s candle
There’s a door without a handle
In a box, no lid or locks
Lackless keeps her husband’s rocks
There’s a secret she’s been keeping
She’s been dreaming and not sleeping
On a road, that’s not for traveling
Lackless likes her riddle raveling.”
This one’s not so clear to me...
Seven things has Lady Lackless- 7 things are needed to open the door
One a ring not for wearing- could this be the wood ring Kvothe was given by Lady Lackless before being expelled by Maer
Sharp word - name of the door
Husband’s candle - wax puppet with his blood
Door without a handle - copper door in Archives
Husband’s rocks-?? Thinking something that has his blood?
Secret she’s keeping/dreaming not sleeping - her sleeping self
Road- ??
Lackless likes her riddle raveling - that’s a reference to her marrying into Ruh. But does the riddle refer to the song they were singin.
As mentioned in an earlier post about the Lackless box. There are two poems that refer to the box and door:
Let’s take the Boy Version first:
“Seven things stand before
The entrance to the Lackless door.
One of them a ring unworn
One a word that is forsworn
One a time that must be right
One a candle without light
One a son who brings the blood
One a door that holds the flood
One a thing tight-held in keeping
Then comes that which comes with sleeping.”
The Lackless door - the copper door in the Archives. Assuming it contains the books about the Chadrian and Admyr
Ring unworn - could this be the wood ring given to Kvothe by Lady Lackless?
Word unsworn- the name of the door
Time must be right - ?
Candle without light - wax doll with Kvothe’s blood
Son who brings the blood - Kvothe’s Lackless blood
Door that holds the flood - flood of information. Breaks open the secret that the Amyr still exist and all the things that aren’t brought to light
One thing right held in keeping - contents of the Lackless box
That which comes with sleeping - the sleeping mind awakens!
