⭐️ Favorite Jane Austen Book(s): Emma

⭐️ Favorite JA Adaptations: 1995 Pride and Prejudice BBC series & 1995 Sense and Sensibility Movie

⭐️ Why I like Jane Austen's books and adaptations:
I've always loved classics and Jane Austen's been a favorite of mine since the first time I picked up Sense and Sensibility back in high school. I love her witt and her characters are timeless.

Laurie B | 69 comments Hello! I'm coming from the NBRC group where I've enjoyed discussing JA adaptations with Zuzana. I've only attempted the challenge once, reaching Mrs. Bennet level. I want to try it again at some point, but for now, I'm always happy to watch and discuss the adaptations!

Favorite Jane Austen Book(s): Pride and Prejudice, Emma
Favorite JA Adaptation: 1995 Pride and Prejudice BBC series (hands down)
Why I like Jane Austen's books and adaptations:
I have always been fascinated by other periods in history, and I was swept away by P&P when I first read it in high school. I then fell in love with Colin Firth as Mr. Darcy and Jennifer Ehle as Lizzy. I read all Austen's books in the following years and have continued to return to them and the various adaptations throughout my life. There's something soothing about these stories that always takes my mind off my troubles. I love Austen's complex characters with both their charms and foibles.

Hi, Hailey and Laurie! Welcome to the group.

Hailey, I'm envious that you're going to experience Emma for the first time. It's my favorite - so witty and funny. But I think that there's no wrong answer for the favorite JA book - all of them have some first-rate qualities. I love P&P, S&S and Persuasion almost as much as Emma - all of them 5 star reads for me.

Laurie, yes for the 1995 P&P adaptation. Jennifer Ehle and Colin Firth are my favorite Elizabeth and Darcy. Both the 1995 TV show and the 2005 Movie are going to be a "Monthly Watch" this year. I'll just have to figure out the schedule.

This!
