I loved Trent Dalton's first book (Boy Swallows Universe), which was largely autobiographical. There's no question he can write.

All Our Shimmering Skies is good, but I was spoiled by what I know he is capable of.

I marked this one down to 3.5. Though I enjoyed reading it, could not rate it as high as the Nowhere Child. The Wife and the Widow was told from the perspective of two people. However, the timeline was confusing for me, and did not really understand it until the reveal at the end.

An excellent thriller, despite the premise (a girl wakes up to find her whole family missing from the house) feeling very familiar.

Ok so I did something silly. I was sure I was reading the first book in the ‘Rosie’ series ... ie ‘The Rosie Project’, however I was not. I was reading ‘The Rosie Effect’. I didn’t care much for it and didn’t know what everyone was raving about. Of course I was reading the wrong book. D’oh. Oh well. Three down.

The Vanishing Children by a favourite author of mine, Graham Brack is another Master Mercurius mystery set in the Netherlands in the 17th century. I'm very fond of this gentle, witty cleric whom William of Orange keeps dragging away from his comfortable university post to work for him.
