Addicted to YA discussion

i’m planning to order them soon along with king of scars

Shadow and Bone has 24 chapters (including the Before & After). I have no problem with whatever reading pace you guys decide!

I will be a little busy on saturday so maybe this schedule?
Saturday and Sunday: ch. 1-6
Monday: ch. 6-12
Tuesday: ch. 12-18
Wednesday: ch. 18-24
Thats an average of about 74 pages/day.

Is this okay? We can discuss what we've read either day by day or every other day or even longer in between. What do you guys want?

Btw I will have to read this series in swedish because the library only had the swedish version *sigh*, but I think it will work

Do you mean like how many chapters they have? Or if the rest of the series also was in swedish? Anyway, all the books are in swedish😒 the second book has 25 chapter (including before and after) and the third book has 20 chapters (also including before and after)

Yess, I meant the rest of the series. I guess you prefer reading in English rather than Swedish? That's the same with me except in my country most of the books are in Spanish which is why I prefer reading the ebook in English

Hey, I'm going to read shadow and bone next week and I'll be very happy to discuss it with someone! I'll be reading it in english and I don't know if I can stick to a certain reading pace but discussing the books sounds fun!

O thats so great, I would love to read it together! I'm entirely new to Leigh Bardugos books, cause I never liked fantasy but it definitely changed after reading Caraval. I'm so excited for this book and the netflix show!

@Naomi Yes, i prefer english books:) When I said the library only had the books in swedish, I meant that somebody else had borrowed the english version. I checked it again and now book 2 and 3 in english is back:) so hopefully I will be able to borrow those before we start to read them🙂

I've finished the first 6 chapter. This story is really fast paced. The plot is simple but addictive. So far, I'm immensely enjoying it. Alina and Mal's friendship is soo calming.....

What about others? Have you all started reading the book?

I was really busy yesterday (for me, it is 09.49 on sunday now) but I will read the chapters today:)

I'll be starting the book tommorow! But I have the entire day off so enough time to read and catch up!

Hey.. I've just finished Book 1.. I didn't see this thread earlier or else would've commented.. I agree with Maisha, this book is really fast paced.. Normally book 1 of every series is usually focused on character and world building and it takes forever to make sense of the story.. I can join the discussion if you guys wouldn't mind..

I really loved Genya's character....From the very first, I had mixed thoughts on the Darkling. He seemed kind of a mysterious character to me. I agree with Sehrish that he's like an accident...

I loved Alina and Mal's bonding but separately none of them was able to surprise me. In my opinion, Alina was like a typical fantasy lead character...I found nothing extra ordinary in her character..(in the book 1 of course). But I love her.....:))

True Alva. Of course I liked Alina and Mal but they kinda seemed dull to me. On the other hand, Darkling's dark and mysterious personality was quite impressive......

Yes, I like to read the book in the chronological order.. I read both the Novellas before Book 1.. The Demon in the Wood was okayish, but The Witch of Duva was awesome.. you guys should read it too.. and I finished The Tailor yesterday - it's a novella from Genya's POV and it's in between Book 1 and Book 2., I actually started Grishaverse with a couple friends and its has the S&B Trilogy, SoC Duology and King of Scars Duology.

I agree, I liked Genya too.. Mal didn't stand out as a great character for me too but he was okay.. Alina's character was weak and vulnerable in the beginning, you'll see her develop in the 2nd half..

Lol.. yeah.. He is so dark and mysterious, I want to keep reading about him

yes Sehrish I agree that Alina develops in the second half of the book and she becoms more confident which I like

the twist in the book kind of suprised me even though I knew it was coming, I was not expecting this (I dont want to spoil it for other readers, so this is my explanation haha)

and Mals and Alinas friendship was very comforting in the 2nd half, anyone that agrees?
