I read this contemporary romance novel 20 years ago but it has always stayed with me.
Key scene. Towards the end of the book, I remember skiing outfits....., part of the book was at some ski resort (towards the end after the death).
The plot:
Three bestfriends. h is married to H's best friend.
They were all close, hung out all the time- for years- before "the best friend's death."
The author shows the friendship quite thoroughly in the beginning/mid, so the death felt unexpected and I felt like this book had 2 heroes. You get the know all 3 characters well in the book. My heart was breaking throughout the book. It was a major tearjerker book for me..
The main story is after the death.
H falls in love with his best friend's widow(h), and starts seeing her differently. Its not one of those H pining away stories. Or maybe he just didn't realize?
The heroine was happily married to the H best friend, and I think she loved her husband and had no feelings for the H until the death but they started getting close and developed new feelings for each other to get over their grief. They were like Three Musketeers, and it felt very different not having that 3rd person....
The hero was a rich playboy. Never loved anyone, couldnt keep a serious relationship, etc. Then after the death, he became obsessed with the h.
They were rich. I remember they were a little older. h was beautiful (maybe).
The angst is h/H feeling guilty, getting over grief. They were truly just friends before. h never felt jealous etc when H was being a playboy while her hub was alive.
It wasn't a thick book, I would say it was thicker than a silhouette romance novel but not a full book, something in between?
Does anyone remember reading this? Please keep in mind my memory is vague so some memory might not be accurate.
