Mine did not open an email window, it opened a blank page in a new tab. When I hovered over the button (and didn't click it) I did see the mailto: email address on the bottom of my browser, so I copied it down and sent feedback to that email address ([email protected]). I hope it goes to the right place. I am especially worried that I was not able to change the shelf of my book (from currently reading to read or from want to read to currently reading). I have a similar problem using the app that I always assumed was because I had either too many books or too many shelves for the app to handle. I hope that won't be the case with the updated page. I did tell them I use the top shelves all the time for a bunch of reasons, not only this group, and that I hope they allow us to see more than 10.

The issue of being able to change from reading to read, etc. impacts everyone, so that's unacceptable. I wonder what the point was of taking away the tag pages, do they think they take up too much space?

Ugh, I don't have access to the beta, but reading through all these messages is giving me an anxiety attack lol. Can anyone email me some screen shots? I'll pm you with my email if you don't have it.

I also do not have access to Beta, Anita. So, I am just chilling and waiting for it to all change one day. lol

Now I can only click on desktop version or mobile version--nothing says beta.

I had that issue, too (and I let them know). That is something they would HAVE to fix. They can't leave that as is!

That's a good question. Like Cora, I not only mentioned the importance of the tags/shelves to our group here, but that I use them personally for other reasons, as well.

I finally for the link to the Beta pages, but I cannot comment. I hit the "beta" button at the bottom of the page and I get a blank page?

Just had my first Beta opportunity....with Winter Counts. I commented on the tag issue. Otherwise, wasn't much that troubled me overly. But will also keep testing as opportunity allows, and on different devices.

Thanks for providing the link to the book, Theresa. When I click on that book's page I also got the banner allowing me to give feedback ... which I did.

I also noticed that there was no ISBN info. I use the Metadata quite a bit. Not as many awards are shown either.

I used Theresa link, and I still cannot make a comment-Anyone have any idea why I get this: about:blank and a blank page?

Just received chance on another book to Beta test, Rebecca, but after initially open in the new format, it slipped to an error message tbat page not found.

Clearly there are bugs... Joanne, your inanikity to comment could be a bug on that book's link. Try another book if opportunity presents.

I have tried with 5-10 books, still cannot get in

I got an invite to see it and comment yesterday. I replied that I dislike it for the same reason I disliked the last update years ago - it makes the pictures bigger and gives less info per page. Also I mentioned the issue of tags. The new page is maybe more like the app, which I find useless. Even on a phone or tablet, I go to the website.

Haven't been able to get in since late yesterday - just keeps bouncing to error page. Took me several efforts to get Rebecca back to regular page from Beta --- had to click the Beta button very fast before flipped to error page!

I'm leaving it alone until I finish Rebecca. Maybe by then it will have fixed whatever glitch there is. Or maybe there is somewhere I can report this?

I just realized what it is I really dislike about the Beta - at least the one I have been able to see: It reminds me of the mobile app which I despise. Too big photos, too little info, and too may steps to get to the info you really want to see and use.

Yes, yes and yes!

I totally agree, Theresa. My guess is that they are trying to standardize the look and feel across all platforms. It is going to be a huge pain for those using laptops. I currently am using the "resizing" function whenever I switch to the beta version, just to be able to see a decent amount of information.

Yes, I hate that look. I just really hope that Amazon wake ups and remembers that one of the many benefits of using desktops and laptops is the larger screen and not having to be limited to a screen designed for a small device.

Climbing the Mango Trees: A Memoir of a Childhood in India had the beta pop up on this and I did my reporting and begged for return of tags.

Thanks Theresa! This is the first time that I've been able to access the Beta Format but the feedback option wouldn't load for me unfortunately.

The new format looks like it would at a book sellers' site. All geared for selling rather than providing all the book information. I already miss the tags, number of those tagging, setting, characters and awards.

Ha, very surprising I'm sure. It lost all the library/ reference influences and became pure advert. It is truly disappointing, not a shock, but disappointing.

They do a lot more to get me to buy the way things are--I loathe hard sell tactics. I have literally walked out of stores when salespeople have been pushy, without drama, I just go (better than snapping at them).

I finally saw the beta page for the first time. Somehow, I was switched over to Beta. As I always visit PBT and goodreads on my computer, it wasn't a good look and of course I was upset that I couldn't see the shelves.

I did immediately give feedback and changed out of the Beta mode.

I do see how this may be more appealing on a phone or even a tablet.

GR has amped up the Beta Format use. Clearly it is steps closer to being permanent.

For the last several days, every time on my devices I search for a book or click on a title to look at specifics like plot summary, the Beta version pulls up, even though I am in desktop version. There is a Beta icon on the lower right to click to revert to prior format but it is so irritating, especially when all you want to do is check publication date or number of pages. It also allows you to comment still on the beta format.

Brace yourselves ....

I don't really like the beta version, I can see that it might be better for phone or tablet, but I usually am on my pc when I visit Goodreads.

The beta just doesn't have handy the things I want readily, so I always revert.
