I THINK it was Stephen King who said that the first draft is just you telling yourself the story. Get it out of your head and onto paper.
From there, you can clean out what you don't need and spruce things up in the second draft.
So don't sweat the first draft. If you have a story you want/ NEED to Tell, get it out of your head and onto paper and /or doc page or blog. Put it where you can read it and be motivated to finish it.
Almost forgot.... whatever you're writing , know WHY you're telling the story.
From there, you can clean out what you don't need and spruce things up in the second draft.
