Christie Stratos (christiestratos) | 3 comments "At the same time, we needed to make sure the detail we used enhanced our characters as well as their story. It could not be allowed to slow the action; but needed to blend in so our readers would unknowingly absorb it."
This is the part I feel a lot of historical fiction works lack. There's lots of description for description's sake and that is used with the purpose of trying to get readers into the time period, but it's often not smooth and sticks out. It easily becomes distracting if it's not carefully crafted.
I'm glad they made that point.
