Was Evan’s biological father, Kirk Meade, ever a suspect in your eyes? Even though we knew more about the killer, should he have been a consideration for Sheriff Colgate?

Robin (robinmy) | 2450 comments Did Kirk have an alibi? I can't remember. I think the Sheriff should have looked at him. Kirk could have killed Paul out of jealousy over Evan. Of course, I don't think Kirk cared that much about his son.

Kirk’s alibi was that he had swiped into the halfway house and didn’t swipe out until the next morning but Lance and Morgan figured out how he could have circumvented the system. He definitely had a motive but Colgate never investigated him.

I think you’re right about Kirk not caring for Evan. He was more interested in sticking it to Tina.

Lauren (laurenjberman) | 1810 comments This was a plot hole in a book full of plot holes. The issue of Kirk's alibi is raised and left hanging.

That said, I didn't think it was him. I doubt he cared enough about Tina or Evan to kill Paul. In addition, Evan would have recognized him, and may not have felt the need to run.

That’s why I never had him as a suspect since Evan would have offered that up as part of his observations in the first chapter. But, only we knew that.

Charlene (charlenethestickler) | 1203 comments The narrative told us that Kirk could not have been the killer, but his alibi was left hanging in the breeze. He could have been up to no good in many other ways.

Sharon Kallenberger Marzola | 3484 comments Kirk wasn't on my list because I didn't feel that Evan would protect him if he was the murderer. Lauren I was disappointed that there were so many holes in the story. I thought Leigh was getting better with her storytelling.
