Hi Scott! Would you happen to know an author who is on the spectrum and would like to give a talk to a small group of writers?
Hi Kelly,
I don't know if I'm the sort of person you are looking for - I have self-published three books, one of which features a character with autism (and the one I'm working on now will as well). I am on the spectrum, self-diagnosed, and I've been a writer since I was twelve. I'm a little shy because I don't feel like my qualifications are "serious" enough - but I do my best to write at a professional level.
I wouldn't mind talking to your writers group. You can reach me at [email protected].

I’m afraid I don’t personally know most of the people in this group. I myself am on the spectrum but I don’t feel like a good fit for what you need.

I don't know anyone either, If I don't try this i will not know if it is for me. I may not be completely comfortable here but when i can and do try I find out many things. I find out that ASD folks are people i do feel more comfortable with than non ASD folks. I find i need to risk things but not too many things.
If this is not for me I will know it soon enough.
I am looking for that spot between discomfort and comfort where I can keep learning and experiencing but I'm not in "melt down land"
Just my humble opinion based on 69 years of my ASD. Your mileage may vary. LOL
Everyday from 4 pm - 5:30 pm PST I host a writing room on Zoom. On occasion I try to get guest speakers to come in and talk about the many different challenges about writing and how we can overcome them. Our last event was held in January 2021.
Since April is Autism Awareness Month, I would very much like to have a writer or two to come in and talk with the members of my room. You can give a short talk and the remainder of the time would be a Q&A session. The last time we did this I asked the members to write down one or two questions and everyone in turn would get a chance to ask one question. When everyone has had a chance, then we would go around again asking the second question.
If you are interested in participating in something like this please feel free to contact me through this site. You can also friend me and PM me on Facebook. I'm listed as Kelly Jeanne. I should be the only one, but if there are others, I'm from San Diego. You can also fe-mail me at [email protected] . Thank you so much for considering this and I hope to hear from you soon! Have a great day, everyone!
