☽Blunt☾ Grey is abrasive and blunt, and he’ll rarely lie to you to make you feel better. That doesn’t mean he won’t keep secrets, though. He seems like he doesn’t make any effort to be kind to people, but he cares a lot deep down.

☽Sarcastic☾ Grey treats life with a comedic sense of apathy. He’s extremely snarky, and has a signature “bitch please” expression that everyone he’s met has been on the receiving end of at least once. His sense of humor is very dark, deadpan, and fatalistic, and there are very few people who he takes seriously.

☽Overprotective☾ Grey has a habit of adopting students and acting as a sort of father figure. There are only a few ways to get him truly angry, one of which would be to hurt someone he loves. You do that, you’re dead. He would die for the people he cares about.

☽Impulsive☾ Grey has little to no impulse control. He’s reckless and headstrong, running into danger without thinking. Planning ahead? That’s for losers. Grey doesn’t really have much self preservation, and he puts himself in danger a lot.

☽Cynical☾ Grey doesn’t like people. Well, adults. Kids are okay sometimes. He doesn’t trust many people, because he’s been betrayed enough times to know that it sucks, and it doesn’t need to happen again. If he puts his trust in you, even just a bit, that’s extremely rare.

History Information

☽Grey was born into a pretty rich family. His mother died shortly after he was born, and his father blamed him for it. He was raised mostly by his grandmother, because his father was almost never around, and when he was, he would ignore the child.☾

☽When Grey was seven, his grandmother died from a heart attack, which deeply affected both Grey and his father. His father started drinking, and he would scream at his son and beat him. Grey learned to avoid his father, which wasn’t hard in the large, empty mansion they lived in.☾

☽At twelve years old, he got his letter to Taipan Academy, and he immediately packed his things and left. He stayed there over the summer, too. The Demon Studies teacher at the time took him under their wing, and he was finally happy.☾

☽Grey met Jillian when he was 14. He was almost instantly in love, and it didn’t take him long to tell the other boy. Frankly, he never saw the point in hiding crushes. The two started dating, and loved each other a lot. Dark magic, however, wasn’t quite right for Jillian, and so he transferred to Bristlefront two years later. The two of them didn’t split up, though. It was just a long distance relationship.☾

☽When Grey graduated, he wasn’t really sure what to do with his life, but the teacher who had basically adopted him offered to let him be a sort of assistant teacher. He accepted, and became the actual teacher once they retired when he was 21. Jillian came over to visit a lot - he had become the headmaster of Bristlefront - and Grey visited him every chance he got as well. When Grey was 22, Jillian proposed, and they got married.☾

☽Grey had been pretty happy for the past three years, but at 25 years old, something happened. He started getting random blackouts and flashes of pain, and it didn’t take long to figure out that he was sick. He was dying. Grey didn’t tell Jillian, not wanting to worry him, but the main reason he feared dying was because of how he knew it would affect Jillian. He tried everything he could to fix it, but nothing worked. And so, desperate, he summoned a demon, and made a deal. When he dies, his soul will belong to that specific demon, and I’m exchange, the demon - named Kalgon - healed him. Kalgon, being an absolute asshole even for a malice demon, still pops in every now and then to remind him of their deal, and mock him for still not telling Jillian. His life has been pretty uneventful since then.☾

☽Calm☾ This is the first side of Kira you’ll meet. On the outside, she’s calm and diplomatic, and seems to know exactly what she’s doing. She has an answer to almost everything, and her emotions are almost never shown on her face. Her pure calm can almost be intimidating, especially when her attention is focused on you. If you piss her off, her response will be almost always politely passive-aggressive.

☽Intelligent☾ Getting to know Kira a bit more, you’ll find that she’s brilliant when it comes to academic things. She’s mastered most of the Dark Magic branches, namely Foresight and Runes. She’s whip-smart and decisive, able to think on her feet and make quick choices in a snap.

☽Friendly☾ This is the farthest most people ever get when it comes to Kira. Not quite friends, but acquaintances. She’ll smile at you, ask how your day was, and hold some small conversation. Maybe she’ll even tell a few jokes, if you’re particularly close.

☽Goofy☾ To see this side of Kira, someone would have to be extremely close to her. She’s goofy and sarcastic, with a joke for every occasion and a passion for cookies. She’s an absolute klutz who doesn’t know what she’s doing other than Her Best. Under all the layers and masks, Kira is a complete disaster. She’s headstrong, stubborn, and somehow manages to be very overprotective while at the same time not giving a shit about her own wellbeing. She can and will insult you, and her insults are far more colorful and creative than most people will ever hear from her.

☽Guarded☾ Most people don’t know anything about Kira, and she’d like to keep it that way. Her onion layers of personality are like a shield for her, protecting her from her past. She prefers to remain mysterious. Any questions about her random disappearances are met with a knowing smile and a change of subject.

☽People aren’t sure where Kira came from, or what’s happened to her. The first time anyone really met her on the island was when she started attending Taipan at 12 years old. Kira was always the quiet kid, who would sit in the back and not talk to anyone. She wasn’t quite remarkable in her first two years, and went almost entirely unnoticed, until her third year.☾

☽Kira somehow unlocked Foresight when she was 14. She started getting small flashes of the future, some barely a few days ahead while some were of years forward. She started excelling in that class, and suddenly everyone wanted to be her friend, to know how she did it. Kira was overwhelmed by the sudden burst of attention and tried to ignore everyone. There was no way they actually wanted to be friends, right? Still, a few people got through to her, and some of them have been close friends of hers for life.

Kira spent her next few years unwillingly being one of the most popular kids in the school. That was what happened when you had Foresight. It was, after all, a very rare ability, and even rarer to have the precision that hers did.☾

☽After she graduated, people aren’t quite sure what happened to Kira. She just... vanished. Nobody had any contact with her for the next four years, and they don’t know where she went or what she was doing.☾

☽Kira reappeared again out of nowhere when she was 22. When people asked where she had been, she just smiled slightly and changed the subject. She applied for the position of Foresight teacher after the previous had retired, and she got the position. After twelve years teaching that position, the Headmaster retired, and she took his place. Kira’s been here for six years, and she occasionally disappears for a week at a time. Nobody’s really certain where she goes when this happens. ☾

☽Reserved☾ Layla's hesitant to form strong bonds with others and will rarely be the one to speak first. She is quiet but unafraid to share her opinion when she feels it is needed. She is skeptical of most people but not outwardly harsh, and willing to offer her friendship to those who have proven themselves to be good people.

☽Competitive☾ Growing up with three older brothers made Layla really competitive. Once she gets going she won't stop until she gets what she wants, which is most commonly to win. She has never backed down from a challenge and determination and dedication are two of the things she values most in a person.

☽Stern☾ As a combat teacher Layla is strict and focused but usually not mean. She tries her best to be patient as she teaches but sometimes she gets too frustrated and snaps. Layla doesn't care what her students think of her. She is their instructor, not their friend. Around her students she is serious and unrelenting, especially when it comes to discipline.

☽Blunt☾ If you're doing something wrong, Layla will tell you. She knows no student will improve if they don't know what they're doing wrong so she makes it a point to tell them or spar with them and let them figure it out themselves. History Information

☽Layla is the forth of five children born to Joshua and Irene Kane. Her older brothers, Nathanial, Desmond and Thomas were nine, seven and three years old when she was born.☾

☽Layla picked up an early love for combat. She competed with her brothers regularly, often over the irrelevant things, and she became very competitive. When she was ten, her younger sister, Lilian, was born.☾

☽Layla and Lily were instantly very close. They were inseparable. When Layla was twelve, she received a letter from the Taipan Academy Of Dark Magic. She was elated until she realized three-year-old Lilian couldn't come with her. Layla went through a week long phase of stubborn denial, refusing to go to the Academy unless Lily was allowed to come with her. But eventually she surrendered and boarded the train to Taipan Academy.☾

☽In her first year at the Academy, Layla was always at the bottom of her class. She disappointed her teachers and was teased by her classmates. The only class she truly enjoyed was non-magical combat. It required zero magical talent on her part and it reminded her of the petty fights she had with her brothers.☾

☽Eventually, Layla got the hang of using magic. While she was never the top of her class, she easily graduated the Academy. After she left the Academy, Layla returned home to her family. Her brothers had already graduated and gone their seperate ways and her sister was still in school. Layla spent a few months at home before growing bored and leaving. Layla traveled around Taramagiel for four years. She got different jobs, but quit after a month or two of work.☾

☽At the end of her forth year of travel, Layla realized non-magical combat was one of the only things she truly enjoyed. She returned to Taipan Academy and applied for the position of non-magical combat instructor. She got the job and has been teaching for the past three and a half years.☾

Layla has light brown hair with darker undertones that falls just above her mid back. She has ivory skin and full pink lips. Her dark brown eyes are framed by long dark lashes and thick arching brows. Layla is small for her age, standing at about 5' 4", and weighing just over 100 lbs. Given her job and the fact that she's constantly running and training, Layla is lean and fit with strong muscles.

☽Trait Number One☾ They're very proud. Proud of themself, their students, their friends. Their pride can be good, bad, or both. Examples:
They are very proud of the students they teach. This leads to the students getting more attention and upping their self-esteem.

History Information

☽Between the years 1-4☾ Her father died before she was born. Her mother never told Aan about her father. Slowly her mom descended into depression which would turn into anger.

☽Between the years 5-10☾ At the age of 5 she went to kindergarten where she met her life-long friend, Markas. Sometime during Aan's 6th year her mom started abusing her. It started off as scratches from her nails, but soon went to bruise causing blows. In second grade, her teacher noticed that she never wore anything that revealed her arms or legs. When Aan was asked to roll up her pants and sleeves, bruises were revealed. The teacher immediately took Aan to the nurse's office. The nurse gave her some ice and kept her calm. Over the next year, child services investigated Aan's mom who was eventually found guilty. The only way that Aan had survived through the abuse was by thinking she was the most important, which caused her arrogance.

☽ Between the years 11-13☾ Aan lived in an orphanage for a couple of years before attending Taipan Academy of Dark Magic.

☽Between the years 14-17☾ A couple of years later, Markas started attending the academy. She was glad, because she was lonely and had no friends. A year after that, her gender changed. She was now male. He took it hard, but Markas found a support group for him. There he accepted himself and adopted they/them pronouns. They were really glad for Markas.

☽Between the years 18-22☾ Soon enough, they graduated. They were sad to leave the academy behind, but they wanted to explore the world. They went all over the world over the course of 2.5 years.

☽Between the years 22+☾ After exploring the world, they decided they wanted to teach. They loved animals, so they decided to go to a magical university to learn about creature training.
