Fantasy Buddy Reads discussion

This is a Buddy Read for All Systems Red by Martha Wells starting March 22, 2021. The plan is to binge read the series, so the next books wont have start dates but they will have separate threads, per request. Have fun! :D

stupid system started giving me trouble after the second book went up. I'll try to upload the threads tomorrow. Unless someone participating in the read wants to just go ahead and create the thread since these don't need to be added to the bookshelf (due to the no start date). I'll check back.

I've started this one today, since I wanted to wrap up another buddy read first.

I'm not very far into it yet and still reserving judgement, though I do very much enjoy Murderbot's dry humour.

Finished yesterday. A short read, but a lot happened in it.

I loved how (view spoiler)[Murderbot slowly got more comfortable with being around humans and also that it calls them "my humans". (hide spoiler)]

Dr Mensah seems like a (view spoiler)[very empathetic person. Her treatment of Murderbot spoke volumes. I found it very touching that the whole novella was basically Murderbot's farewell letter to her. (hide spoiler)]

You've pretty much summed up my thoughts exactly, both when I first read it and during this reread. I've also gotta admit, it feels a bit easier to get through the novella this time around because I've become more familiar with the sci-fi terminology. (The first time I read it, it took me a while to finish it because I kept getting hung up on the unfamiliar terms.)

Sooo I take it you plan on starting the next book soon?

We can start the second one right away if you want!

I read a lot of sci-fi, it's probably my favourite genre :)

Hmkays then~ I'll start it tomorrow (28th) as I just started reading Mexican Gothic for a book club and want to make headway through that today, but feel free to start before me (if you haven't already)!

Fantasy's usually my go-to read so I'm kind of amazed at how much sci-fi I've already read this year lol

I'll start tomorrow as well. Didn't have time to read today because I was at work all day!

I might try to play catchup on this. Grabbed the series when Tor had it free last year, but in the middle of some other buddyreads.

They're super short, catching up should be easy :)
