Steph (angel4492) | 32706 comments It's time to pick our April Book of the Month! The poll consists of March new releases. Books were randomly chosen from Goodreads' "Most Popular Books Published In March 2021" list.

Please cast your vote now and join us in April!

[Poll ends @ 20 March]

kittykat AKA Ms. Tortitude | 376 comments Steph, that list is horrendous! I spotted one book on there THREE TIMES, and I spotted more than one book that has already been published... Unfortunately, it's one of those closed lists where there is no opportunity to post a comment to offer feedback.

Steph (angel4492) | 32706 comments LOL kittykat, sorry it's all jacked up. I'm not seeing any books there more than once. But, I did have an issue initially, When He's an Alpha messed up; I fixed it. And, which book has already been published? Was it earlier this month or earlier? You should be able to post comments on the bottom of the poll page, but here's fine too. Lemme know if you refresh and the poll still looks whack. I'll do what I can do fix it. :)

kittykat AKA Ms. Tortitude | 376 comments Haha!

Act Your Age, Eve Brown (The Brown Sisters, #3) is on there 3 times at 11, 41 and 159 and just scrolling through the list there are 27 that that have a published date of 2020 or before showing, with quite a few of them ones I know were published before March 2021 because I had my eye on them at the time.

There is no option to post any comments because there is no comment box showing and unlike most lists it is shown in it's entirely not just 100 at a time.

Steph (angel4492) | 32706 comments Ooooh, you’re talking about the “Most popular books in XXX month” list. I was struggling to figure out what you meant in your reply. I thought you were referring to the poll I’d created 🤪 I get it now. Yeah, those lists have a lot of repeats and I’m always finding one/some that are there when the first publish date was months prior. I also use the list that shows new books in a specific month by “my authors”. That one is sometimes more helpful for me when choosing for polls. I can’t fix that “most popular” list, not sure if it’s created by members or curated by GR, never paid enough attention.

Remember you can always add a book choice to the poll if there’s one you’d like voted on that I didn’t include.

Sandra | 25910 comments Those lists are generated by the GR auto bots, and the reason there is more than 1 entry by a book, is, its edition specific. It's always been that way.

If you look at an entry is says in brackets (this edition).

Ahh, I see! There is only the link to that list in your OP, I can't see a link to your poll? No ignore me! I can see it NOW!!!

Yeah, I did assume as much looking at it. But adding different editions is why it doesn't work. Hence it has also pulled through a large number of titles that were published prior to March 2021.

If they are going to automate it, they should only use the original publication date, but that would also make things difficult as so many of those are missing and/or wrong so there is that problem too.

It's not the only automated thing that doesn't work on GR as it should though...
