What do you guys think about watching the movie before reading the book? Discuss, in a kind way :)

I personally think you should read the book first, but I watch the movie first a lot bc I have soooo many books to read. I feel like In the movies they always get something wrong...

Rain | 168 comments I prefer to read the book first because personally after watching the movie I’m not as interested in reading it, but if I read the book first I still want to see the movie.

Rain | 168 comments I mostly only watch the movie to see how the book was visually adapted but I don’t like to spoil the book by watching the movie.

Hailey (haileyythereader) i agree, the book has so much more detail so i think reading first is better!! that’s why if i’ve seen a movie and there’s a book i won’t read the book cause it feels weird (example of this is all the boys i’ve loved before, i don’t want to read the books cause i’ve already watched all 3 movies)

g.vee (gvesthetic) I prefer the original ones first, like if there is a movie adaptation of book, I will read the book first and vice versa.

BiBookDemon I prefer to read the book first. Only once have I watched the movie before reading the book. (I always spoil the movie for my family by saying 'direct quote' or 'yeah. That didn't happen in the book...' Lol!)

Milica DIY | 522 comments For me, it's better to read the book first because I love reading books more, and it's not necessary, but my enjoyment is going to be bigger if there are no spoilers. Plus, I don't even watch movies that much. I'm just not that type of person.

Bethany (bethiejoy4398) I like reading the book first. For a few reasons- 1. I see characters a certain way, and if I watch the movie first all I can see is the actor. I can't accurately make a person in my head. 2. The book is usually better, and movies usually take away from that if I watch it first. 3. I watched Everything, Everything and sense I already knew the plot twist I did't even want to read the book anymore. So I missed out on the experience when the book was most likely better anyways.

personally i prefer reading the book first so that i can craft the characters looks and talking style and then watch the movie so i can get a new and fresh perspective
