Trisha (trishabisen) | 2389 comments This thread is to discuss All the Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr.

Pages: 531 pages

Length: 1 Month (April)

Participants: Bibliophile, Alyana Pearl, Alexxy, Ushashi, Pooja, Meg, Nedge, Manni, Courtney.

Everyone reads at their own pace during a Buddy Read. Because participants can be at different parts of the book at different times, it is extremely important to mark spoilers so that the book is not ruined for someone who is not as far along as others!!!

Mark spoilers by placing {spoiler} before the text and {/spoiler} after the text but use the < and > instead of the { and }.

Happy Buddy Reading!

Alyana | 1201 comments Hi buddies, I'm sad to say that I cannot finish this book. I don't think it's for me or if I am reading it at the wrong time. I might give this another shot sometime but not right now.

Hope you all have fun reading!

Nedge Has anyone else started reading? I'm at 21% and am enjoying it more than I thought I would. The pace is slower than I expected, which gives distance from the traumas of war and I'm left with space to savour the language and observations. This isn't the sort of thing I usually read, but maybe it's exactly what I need right now. I'm sorry to hear it didn't work for you Alyana.

Ushashi (ushashib) | 428 comments Hi, I have started reading but reading it slowly, though that has nothing to do with the book. I have read around 60 pages, so it's still in the pre-war stage. I am really liking it so far. I always find it heartbreaking to read about the time period before WWII, with common people going on about their lives without any idea of the devastation coming their way.

RJ - Slayer of Trolls (hawk5391yahoocom) Such a beautifully written book. I envy those of you who get to read it for the first time. Enjoy!

I read this a couple of years ago. Okay, I listened to the audiobook and gave it 5 stars and 3 hearts. For me this is very high. Most years my average rating for the year is 3.4 (but last year due to a long, intense game it was lower. This year it's only 3.2 so far, so I am trying to find books I will like better--I may have to reread some favourites, but it's harder when I am reading for games and challenges).

Since I don't give any spoilers, here is my review

Ushashi (ushashib) | 428 comments I finished it and loved the book. The weaving of the timelines and storylines, the characters, the scenes - everything was perfect. And the prose is so beautiful.
