So, anyway, does anybody read classic books, To Kill A Mockingbird, Fahrenheit 451 ( I think those are the numbers), Anne of Green Gables?

message 4: by Madison (new)

Madison | 1224 comments I’ve never read a classic before.

message 5: by Maya (new)

Maya I tried reading Lord of the Flies but it was incredibly boring. I have heard that it gets really good at the climax but I didn't care enough to wait lol.

message 6: by Kaya ✨ (new)

Kaya ✨ I have read Pride and Prejudice, Northanger Abbey, Animal Farm, the Outsiders, the Wave, Swiss Family Robinson, etc.

Favorites: Pride and Prejudice, the Outsiders, the Wave.

Samiksha Bhattacharjee (samiksha23) | 713 comments Anne of Green Gables was my first ever classic, I think I read it when I was seven. I remember thinking it was amazing, but I don't remember much other than that... I think there was a character called Gilbert? It must've been really good because that was what inspired me to read other classics!

There was a character named Gilbert. Have you seen the Netflix series? It is really good.

message 9: by Maya (new)

Maya Oh yes outsiders is so good, I read it for a class novel study this year. The ending BROKE ME though.

Ok, I'm not a candy obsessed child or anything. But, no candy? Like, whatsoever? No chocolate? What about things like cake, brownies, cookies, etc.???

message 15: by Jace (new)

Jace (jace_is_reading) Well I mean I do chocolate, sometimes, but not often. Same with those other things.

I adore your new pfp! The answer to your first question about the classics is yes! I am currently reading to kill a mockingbird in class and am buying my own copy, and am buying Fahrenheit 451 whenever I can next! I want to read the great gatsby, mice and men, let me know if I’ve missed any!

Maya Serious question: to mark the page that you've left off on, what do you do? Do you fold the corner of the page or do you use a book mark? Or are you insane and even fold down HALF of the page??
Let me know ;)

message 25: by Charlotte (new)

Charlotte Ash | 45 comments I use a book mark (or a receipt, or a gum wrapper, or a clean Kleenex lol)

message 26: by Charlotte (new)

Charlotte Ash | 45 comments but I'll fold down the corner in extreme circumstances

message 27: by Madison (new)

Madison | 1224 comments I us a bookmark because most of the time when I start a book I’m at home because I don’t like starting them at school.

I don't trust myself with bookmarks... I just memorise the page number and pick up where I left off xD

same, although I normally forget what page I left off on ;( I sometimes fold down the corner of the page but only if it's an old book.

message 30: by Charlotte (new)

I've already Six of Crows duology and am currently reading The Selection... I think it might be better to read Six of Crows first, because it is a shorter series that is easier to commit to xx

I was only planning to read the first three books of the Selection Series since I heard the last two aren't very important to the plot.

Is the Series better than the Six of Crows Duology? ( I haven't read the Grisha Trilogy ) <3

Hmm I'm not sure, I'm only just starting The Selection and I'm planning to read the Grisha trilogy after I've finished the never-ending 'currently reading' list I've commited to xD

message 46: by Maya (new)

Maya Hey guys, you probably all know that it’s pride month since as a group we tried to show our support in a small way by making our books of the month LGBTQ+
I wanted to share something that happened at my school today that is completely disgusting to remind everyone that prejudice against LGBTQ+ is still a daily thing and we need to continue to fight against it and if you see an act of homophobia you should report it.
Yesterday at my school a few kids expressed their pride by drawing it on the sidewalk with chalk. Today a group of homophobic kids went around the school destroying it by smudging it and washing it away with water. Me and a few of my friends saw this and reported it to the office and I think that now they are getting suspended.
This may seem like a small thing but it is still a type of hate crime and is still unacceptable.
I’m grateful that we’ve gathered a group of accepting and loving teens that can relate to one another on more than just books. I know that things like this can make it hard to continue to show your pride but is so important to do it.

That's horrific! I'm glad that we as a group can show our support for the LGBTQ+ community :)
