Shomeret | 1490 comments My low read count would be a disgrace in any other month, but this March I was packing and moving. I am now as settled as I'm likely to be at my temporary (six month) address.

1)Dead on My Feet by Patricia Broderick (mystery) Source: Edelweiss Started: 2/27 Finished: 3/3

Why Read: I needed to get a mystery read for the formerly F2F now Zoom mystery readers group that I attend.

Comments: An obituary writer thinks there's a mystery behind a death she wrote about. She discovers that there were more deaths and mysterious goings on involved. I liked it enough to give it a B, but was annoyed that the protagonist was named Nellie Bly when she had nothing in common with the historical Nellie Bly other than being a journalist.

2)Trapeze by Leigh Ansell ( YA contemporary/ circus fiction)321 pages. Source: Publisher via Goodreads giveaway Started: 3/5 Finished: 3/8

Why Read: I had post-covid shot symptoms that needed to subside before I could deal with reading. I chose this one because I saw it as a light circus novel.

Comments: I wish there had been more circus content and less ordinary teen life. The most unusual aspect is that Watt Pad, a website primarily for amateur serialized fiction, published this as a novel in print. It evidently was originally serialized on Watt Pad. I gave it a B.

3)The Cotillion Brigade: A Novel of the Civil War and the Most Famous Female Militia in American History by Glen Craney (historical fiction) Source: Author via Book Funnel Started: 3/8 Finished: 3/15

Why Read: I agreed to review this book on one of my blogs. It's about a Confederate

women's militia during the Civil War.

Comments: The militia aspect isn't predominant. It's mainly about character relationships. I wanted to see more of these women drilling and fighting, but I did give it a B+

I did start another book during March, but I'm still reading it. Between packing, moving and unpacking I haven't gotten very far with it. I'm trying to deal with some radical lifestyle changes necessitated by my temporary environment and trying to make friends with six cats who run away from me. :(

Ann (annrumsey) | 16956 comments Shomeret: I hope you are able to get the cats to make friends and settle in for less stress from your move and the temporary location. (And great April books) Dead on My Feet looks interesting.

Carol/Bonadie (bonadie) | 9500 comments Shom, I hope by now you are over your post-Covid shot symptoms. Good month nonetheless with moving on top of that.

Shomeret | 1490 comments Carol, the post-Covid shot symptoms with the first shot went away after a couple of days, and I didn't get any symptoms with the second shot.

Ann, the cats aren't running away from me now, and they will sometimes let me pet them.
