Ah! I knew I was forgetting something this morning - thank you for reminding me. So how to make a thread, you will need to do the following:

1. Click the 'May/June - Genre Challenge' link.
2. On that page, there is the option - 'new topic'. This is above 'last activity' and pretty close to the 'Challenge Corner' picture.
3. After clicking 'new topic', you will add a topic - for example, Cindee's Genre Challenge!
4. You will type whatever you want in the comment box. For example,

'Please post like the following:

Review: add link
Buddy: add link
Pages: most rated (ex: this one would be 592 pages)
Spin #1: Young Adult
How it fits: MPG Young Adult'

5. Click post and add link in sign up thread!

Do you want us to check in every time we post a book on our thread?

No. I will give a start and end date for your genre. You will check in on the end date before midnight. Then you will get the next genre.

For my genre if it has crime in the first page of genres would it count this is one of my least read genres so I just wanted to know.

Yes, if your book is tagged 'Crime' within the first 3 pages you can use it!

My genre is 'music': I've got some poetry written by the head singer of a metal band. Is that also okay?

That should be okay if it's tagged music. What's the book called?

It's called and it's tagged 'music', but not on the main page.

As long as it's tagged 'Music' within the first three pages - you are good to use it.

Do the books we post have to be read within the one-week timeline?

No. If a book that you finished doesn't work for your current genre (in any way) you can post it when it works for the next genre that you have.

So in other words, any book that you started, read, and finished after May 1st will work for this entire challenge.

The new layout of Goodreads only allows me to see 10 genres max per book.
Does anyone know how to get the rest of the shelves (genres) like in the old layout?

You mean like the beta page? I know you can get out of it if you click the beta button. As for seeing anything other than the main page genre's on that version, I'm not sure.

For the genre you are currently on? No, it wouldn't work since tonight everyone should be checking in. It will have to work for the next one you are on OR you can hold it until it works for a certain genre that you could potentially get.

For "children," does the book needs to be specifically tagged 'children,' or would 'middle grade' work?

For example, the MPG for Conceal, Don't Feel is Children > Middle Grade, but Go the Distance is tagged 'middle grade' but the tag doesn't mention children.
