Since I made an entire Kahoot on the topic, it actually made sense to make this. When I got recommended this, I thought that was exactly what I would not want to see. I am not..a physical person so this was the opposite of what I liked. However, I was drawn into Johnny Laurence, a humiliated man living a deadbeat life after his loss to Daniel LaRusso 34 years ago in 84. Johnny still essentially lives in the 80’s yet despite his anti-liberal views, he somehow manages to make people drawn to him with his sheer.. Cool nature. He takes bullied unconfident immigrant Miguel Diaz into his wing and manages to transform into a strike first strike hard no mercy machine. On the other hand, Daniel Larusso,a successful yet smug car salesman, is struggling with balance and happens to take Robby Keene and karate back up. I won’t spoil Robby Keene relation but when Johnny finds out It won’t be great. A crucial lesson we learn is that life isn’t black or white, it’s grey and that inability to get over the past can be detrimental
The thing is, with 30 episodes and no spoilers around, It’s hard to really crack anything but Eli’s transformation in the first season is the epitome of everything I secretly wanted to be . Unfortunately, Demetri is the epitome of who I actually am. As you get pulled further in, the one thing that begins to get noticeable is that it is kind of like a soap opera, in that the one flaw becomes that characters are simpy unwilling to talk things out. One character, Robby, has an almost notorious reputation within the fandom for being in the wrong place in the wrong time. However, that’s just a given and cannot be considered a flaw. It’s a 5 out of 5 and I eagerly await Season 4
