morganhand Genya bothered me so much in the books, I know she was trying to escape the king and what he was doing to her, but manipulating Alina and lying was horrible. I even felt betrayed by her! With that being said, I do love her redemption, although I don't think she'll ever be truly redeemed from her betrayal. I do love their relationship though, she brings out the best in David and vice versa.

I understand why you feel betrayed by Genya, I was hurt by her action towards Alina in Shadow and Bone too, but then I remembered everything that had happened to her. Even after everything the Darkling put her through ("gifting" her to the queen, allowing her to preyed on by the king, exploiting her need to belong etc.) I realized that I might not have made a better choice if I had been in her decision. The Darkling had power and authority that Alina didn't (or didn't appear to anyway) so it felt like the "safer" option. I love her redemption too, it felt genuine and provoked a lot of emotions for me!
