SarahKat | 6245 comments This thread is to discuss The Scorch Trials by James Dashner, the second book of the The Maze Runner series.

Pages: 362 pages

Length: 1 Month (May)

Participants: SarahKat, Sunshine, Dominique, Frezita, D.L., Bobbi, Pervinca .

Everyone reads at their own pace during a Buddy Read. Because participants can be at different parts of the book at different times, it is extremely important to mark spoilers so that the book is not ruined for someone who is not as far along as others!!!

Mark spoilers by placing {spoiler} before the text and {/spoiler} after the text but use the < and > instead of the { and }.

SarahKat | 6245 comments Sorry Jannene! We had a bunch of cancellations this month I probably missed some when I was posting. Argh!

Dominique | 1234 comments Since i didn’t found the first one all that great, I won't be continuing the series.

Happy reading guys!

Pervinca (pervincaperiwinkle) | 155 comments The first book left me a bit intrigued, so i'm looking forward to see what all those trials are about. I'm currentrly reading Siege and Storm but I'll start reading it as soon as I finish that one!

Pervinca (pervincaperiwinkle) | 155 comments I'm currently 50% done with this book so i decided to share my thoughts.

So far, i'm enjoying it a bit less than i thought. I halfway done and not much has happened. We still don't know much about CRUEL.
The conversations sound a bit childish to me, and the invented language still doesn't sound as good- i should have read this in english, probably. And it's definitely aimed at younger readers.

However, i still want to know what's up with CRUEL and why all of this is happening. So i'll keep reading and i'll finish the series as well.

SarahKat | 6245 comments I just started today on audio. We'll see how it goes

Ilse | 337 comments Pervinca, I agree. The language and just the dialogues in general could’ve been way better.

Pervinca (pervincaperiwinkle) | 155 comments Okay, so i finished it. It was okayish.
First 2/3 were quite boring, almost nothing happens, and the last third of the book was actually where we learn stuff and the action happens. I liked that part.

In general, i think anything regarding girls is written in a weird way in this series, not natural, like every time they talk about one girl they have to remind us that just because she is a girl it doesn't mean she is weak. We know. You also don't have to remind us that she is a girl and the others are boys all the time. Did you feel like this two? Also relationships don't seem really deep. But maybe it's because it's aimed at young readers.

To sum up, i liked the end and can't wait to see why all of this is happening.

SarahKat | 6245 comments I have about 2 hours left in the audio. I don't really care for this one. It could be the difference of listening to it versus reading it. Either way, I think I might give the third book a miss. I find myself with less time to read recently and I don't want to use that time for books I know won't be more than 3 stars at best.

Arinordyle | 16 comments I read this a while back , i liked it
