I'll be interested in your thoughts on this, I read The Privet Hedge for this challenge and enjoyed it. It was the first book I'd read by her but I'd like to read more; her writing reminded me of Dorothy Evelyn Smith.

Tania | 35 comments I finished Operation Heartbreak by Duff Cooper which was fantastic.

I'm currently reading The Darksome Bounds of a Failing World: The Sinking of the “Titanic” and the End of the Edwardian Era not a part of the challenge, but it might be of interest for people here due to the time-frame.

Hi Tania, I liked the book. Short novel and easy to read. The book has some outdated ideas about Race and the position of the local people. At the same time she does make some comments about the way the English treat and sees the Egyptians and that is not really good. I had never heard of this writer before until I started to look for books in this time-period.
I will definitely read more from her.

Lorri | 26 comments Yesterday, to my relief, I finished The House of Mirth by Edith Wharton. The misfortunes of the so-called fortune-hunting heroine expose the petty emptiness of the lives and pursuits of the New York social elite at the beginning of the twentieth century. Wharton's writing is wonderful, but the values of the characters and storylines are not to my taste.

Janice | 33 comments I did finish The Great Gatsby by F.Scott Fitzgerald. It will be the only book I will have time to read for this readathon. I'm not a fast reader because I like to take my time and be immersed in my books and also I wanted to finish reading Jane Eyre and A Room With A View first. :) Too many books and not enough time. :)

A Room with a View was published in 1908, so it counts!

Michael Dennis | 9 comments Never feel ashamed of finishing a book slowly or quickly. It’s the active act of reading that matters.

Jan (pearljanquilts) | 5 comments Just finished my final book for this Readalong, so here is my wrap up:

1. The Bridge of San Luis Rey, by Thornton Wilder 1927
The Yellow Room, by Mary Roberts Rinehart 1945
Passing, by Nella Larson 1929
2. The Old Man in the Corner, by Baroness Orczy 1901-1905
3. Cheerful Weather for the Wedding, by Julia Strachey 1932
Father of the Bride, by Edward Streeter 1948 (comedy)
4. Suppressed Desires, by Susan Glaspell 1920 (play)
5. The Return of the Soldier, by Rebecca West 1918

This has been an excellent readalong. Tackled a few books that I’ve meant to get to for many years, and enjoyed them all.
Found many interesting titles from other participants to add to my TBR.
Thank you Katie!
