I'm currently reading The Darksome Bounds of a Failing World: The Sinking of the “Titanic” and the End of the Edwardian Era not a part of the challenge, but it might be of interest for people here due to the time-frame.

Hi Tania, I liked the book. Short novel and easy to read. The book has some outdated ideas about Race and the position of the local people. At the same time she does make some comments about the way the English treat and sees the Egyptians and that is not really good. I had never heard of this writer before until I started to look for books in this time-period.
I will definitely read more from her.

#1 Own Country: The Merry-Go-Round by W. Somerset Maugham,
Such Power Is Dangerous by Dennis Wheatley,
Lolly Willowes by Sylvia Townsend Warner
#2 Other Country: Devdas by Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay
Native Son by Richard Wright
#3 Genre Classic: The Iron Heel by Jack London
#4 Not a Novel: The Plague and I by Betty MacDonald
Black Boy by Richard Wright
#5 WWI or WWII: Soldiers' Pay by William Faulkner
Bonus:
1900s: The Merry-Go-Round (1904) & The Iron Heel (1908)
1910s: Devdas (1917)
1920s: Soldiers' Pay (1926) & Lolly Willowes (1926)
1930s: Such Power Is Dangerous (1933)
1940: The Plague and I (1948), Native Son (1940) & Black Boy

A Room with a View was published in 1908, so it counts!

1. The Bridge of San Luis Rey, by Thornton Wilder 1927
The Yellow Room, by Mary Roberts Rinehart 1945
Passing, by Nella Larson 1929
2. The Old Man in the Corner, by Baroness Orczy 1901-1905
3. Cheerful Weather for the Wedding, by Julia Strachey 1932
Father of the Bride, by Edward Streeter 1948 (comedy)
4. Suppressed Desires, by Susan Glaspell 1920 (play)
5. The Return of the Soldier, by Rebecca West 1918
This has been an excellent readalong. Tackled a few books that I’ve meant to get to for many years, and enjoyed them all.
Found many interesting titles from other participants to add to my TBR.
Thank you Katie!

Thanks, Michael, that's what I like to think too. :)

I'll be interested in your thoughts on this, I read The Privet Hedge for this challenge and enjoyed it. It was the first book I'd read by her but I'd like to read more; her writing reminded me of Dorothy Evelyn Smith.
