Mark of the Thief had an interesting storyline. Going along with the "chosen one" trope, the author Jennifer A. Nielsen did a decent job. I appreciated the mystical factors including the amulet and mythical animals. But the character did not develop much, nor was the narration descriptive. Overall, this book was interesting enough to read the sequel. The scenes seemed predictable but adventurous. I would give this book a 7/10.
