((I'm here! Hmm I feel like if someone was going to step on it, (no offense because Kitt is absolutely amazing) it would more likely be Kitt because Vincent tends to observe more and it would be unlikely for him to step on a trap accidentally, if you know what I mean?

WAIT OK IF KITT ACCIDENTALLY STEPS ON THE TRAP, CROFTON CAN TAKE THE HIT FOR HIM AND MAYBE VINCENT CAN TEND TO CROFTON'S WOUNDS?? :0 ))

((YES))

ѕнєяℓσ¢к ♡ (mushroomlad) ((YESSSSS LET'S DO ITTT

and Kitt will help because he suddenly finds himself actually CARING))

ѕнєяℓσ¢к ♡ (mushroomlad) It seemed as though Crofton has resigned to the fact that Kitt and Vincent wanted to go after the tributes, so without hesitation, knowing that at least Vincent would for sure follow, and Crofton probably would as well, he took off. He followed the sounds of crunching leaves and branches towards what sounded like two tributes, when suddenly out of nowhere, a root was sticking out of the ground. He sort of step-stumbled on it and his eyes widened as he realised what it was. A trap. Damn it, this is what Crofton was warning us about–!

Erin | 16 comments Riley had been walking for what seemed like hours. They had reached what they thought was the eastern edge of the forest. The trees were starting to get thinner. Looking around her, she sat down, trying to catch her breath. She shivered slightly in the cold air.

dagger [ain't that a kick in the head] (aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhh) | 1171 comments Mod
Crofton reacted completely on impulse when he saw the trap go off. He dashed forward, tackling Kitt out of the way. Most of the falling sticks and logs missed him, but one particularly heavy one landed hard on his shoulder, knocking him hard to the ground. He was pinned there by the branch, and he was pretty sure his arm wasn’t supposed to bend that way. Crofton winced as he tried to move it, sucking in air through his teeth. “You’re welcome.” He muttered, trying (and failing) to ignore the pain. Hopefully the other two could get it off of him - well, he knew they could, but he really hoped they wouldn’t just leave him behind. He didn’t fully trust them not to.

ѕнєяℓσ¢к ♡ (mushroomlad) Kitt gave a surprised yelp as he was pushed to the ground, which he hit pretty hard, skinning his right knee and elbow on a rock and tearing holes in those spots in his tribute outfit. He cursed, mostly because of the holes in his clothing and not because of the pain, then looked up at Crofton and uttering a string of more colourful words. He immediately bolted upright again and rushed to his ally's side, attempting to move the large branch. He managed to lift it a little bit, but it was pretty damn heavy (it was like a solid log of a branch) and he wasn't sure Crofton would be able to get his shoulder out from under it. "Can you move your shoulder?" he asked Crofton, his expression twisted in a deep frown.

Vincent frowned, highly considering leaving Crofton there. He would just slow them down, and the two of them would be able to handle themselves perfectly well. But he sighed, narrowing his eyes and lifting the branch where it would be weakest, applying pressure in the exact areas. When the branch was lifted, he was just barely able to move if off the boy's shoulder and began examining Crofton's wound. "We should be able to find some herbs to dress this," he said, looking Crofton in the eye, unswayed. "And yes, in case you were wondering, perhaps we do want you to live. Our ally can't be one of the first to die, of course." Better to let them see you as petty than vulnerable. It wasn't the only reason Vincent was helping him, but there was no way he was admitting that. He turned to look at Kitt. "Hopefully you can avoid stepping on any more traps - for your own safety," he said, the corner of his mouth tugging up in amusement.

ѕнєяℓσ¢к ♡ (mushroomlad) Kitt didn't look up at Vincent until the branch was off of Crofton's shoulder, but then, once it was handled, he raised an eyebrow. "You think we're gonna find herbs in this place? It's cold as hell, and anyway, we can barely even see a thing so how would we be able to find them even if they could grow here?" he pointed out. Then he looked back down at Crofton to add onto Vincent's statement. "Plus, you know, we might be dicks, but we're not total dicks. We do want to keep you alive. You know, because you're really quite useful, as just proven," he said smoothly, making sure that it was noted that he didn't really care that much about Crofton. It was just because he was a useful ally...right? Yes, of course it is. Don't be stupid, he immediately chastised himself for being soft. Then his gaze snapped back up to Vincent and he narrowed his eyes slightly. "A**hole," he muttered, although his eyes glittered slightly with carefully hidden amusement.

dagger [ain't that a kick in the head] (aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhh) | 1171 comments Mod
Crofton, as a matter of fact, could not move his shoulder. He could, however, roll to the side, so he did that instead. “I’m glad my life holds so much meaning for you.” He said through gritted teeth, sitting up as well as he could manage. Dammit, that hurt. “That’s why I said ‘watch where you step’, genius,” He snapped at Kitt. The boy shakily stood up, leaning against a tree for balance. “You step on another one of those, I’m not breaking another limb for you.”

"He might be a dick," Vincent rolled his eyes, "but I'd argue that I am certainly not a dick," he said sarcastically, eyes glimmering with carefully concealed laughter. He was enjoying watching Crofton chastise Kitt - as if it would do anything to stop his ego. "That's true, but there are cold weather plants. We may be able to find catmint or winterberry and make a poultice. Winterberry can be used as a tonic, but I don't think it's necessarily used for this kind of wound..." he trailed off, deep in thought. "We could also go back to the cornucopia. Unless you have a better idea," he said airily. "An asshole like me wouldn't know any better, would he?"

//i want to rp Prim buuuuuuut this is super cute lol//

ѕнєяℓσ¢к ♡ (mushroomlad) Kitt scoffed at his allies, standing up and crossing his arms. "You, Vincent, are proving my point very well," he replied, his eyes glimmering just as much as Vincent's as he continued trying to hide his amusement. "And you're not doing any favours for yourself in that respect, either, Crofton." He stopped talking, though, when Vincent began speaking again of how to treat Crofton's injury, nodding as Vincent did have a point about a few plants that would probably be able to grow there. "The inner bark of winterberry can be used as an antiseptic and an astringent, as well," he corrected, and although he didn't seem like the type to know this sort of thing, he was in fact very proficient at it considering his mother had been a doctor. "I think we ought to look for that and see if we can treat his wound with that. If we find catmint too, we could use that in a poultice because of its astringent properties."

Erin | 16 comments Riley paused at the edge of the forest. From her calculation, she should be on the east end of the forest by now. She had eaten some of the snow, but had had nothing else. She was hungry and tired but she continued to drag her selves forwards anyways.

Alexandria K (percabethprincess8729) | 333 comments Taffeta had made it pretty deep into the forest. She hadn't run into any tributes, which was great. She had her sheath of arrows and her bow in her hand. She scouted for anything suspicious. She wanted to go fairly deep into the forest because she knew that most of the tributes most likely wouldn't go there. She could hide and scout. If any tributes came into her territory, she'd shoot them.

Crofton nodded. "If you can find ganglong, it'll help with bone fracture." He'd done this before, though not on himself. There weren't many ways to get real medicine in District 12, so they had to rely on homemade plant mixtures.

ѕнєяℓσ¢к ♡ (mushroomlad) "Ganglong doesn't grow in this weather. It's too cold," Kitt replied quickly. "Our best hopes, at least for the moment, are winterberry and catmint. Maybe we can go back and look for something at the Cornucopia once it's cleared out, but..."

dagger [ain't that a kick in the head] (aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhh) | 1171 comments Mod
"Right. Right, yeah." Crofton nodded. Of course ganglong wouldn't grow in this weather, stupid. He needed to focus, but the pain was too great and he couldn't think. "I didn't see anything medicine-related when I was in there, but maybe..."

"There's extra water, though," Vincent pointed out. "And likely materials for us to be able to make a poultice. I'm going to look for catmint and winterberry, then we can head to the Cornucopia and see if there's anything we can use. Of course, you all are free to do as you wish."

ѕнєяℓσ¢к ♡ (mushroomlad) Kitt watched Crofton closely, his instincts from his time helping his mother with treating her patients kicking in. He wanted to make sure Crofton wasn't going to pass out and that if he was, he could catch him or get him to lay down if he did. Without taking his eyes off Crofton, he said, "I've got water in my pack if you wanna use that. And as long as you're out, get some extra winterberry. I scraped my knee and elbow and I don't want them to get infected. I'll stay here and watch Crofton, make sure nothing happens. Then maybe we can spend the night here before we go back to the Cornucopia, so it'll be more likely that nobody's up there still."

Alexandria K (percabethprincess8729) | 333 comments Asora didn't know how long it took her to finish the wall. She looked at Clark. "Is that good?" she asked.

message 81: by [deleted user] (new)

Clark shrugged. “Good enough.” He continued to build traps, putting them together one by one.

message 82: by Alexandria (new)

Alexandria K (percabethprincess8729) | 333 comments Asora nodded. "Good," she said. "Anything else that needs to be done?"

message 83: by [deleted user] (new)

Clark shrugged. “We could make a fire, but it would draw attention.” He looked around, then up at the sky. “It’s starting no to get a little dark, so we will need shelter. I can make us one, but we will need more sticks. Plus it’s going to get cold tonight, so we need to be careful of that.” He fell, then forced himself to his feet, shaky. “It might be better if we are constantly moving, especially if we need to use fires.”

message 84: by Alexandria (new)

Alexandria K (percabethprincess8729) | 333 comments Asora looked around. "Yeah, we shouldn't stay put for too long."

message 85: by [deleted user] (new)

Clark grunted, then walked over to a bush and crouched, staying still and quiet. “Asora. Get over here and get down. We need to sleep while we can because we probably won’t get much soon. I’ll take first watch.”

message 86: by Alexandria (new)

Alexandria K (percabethprincess8729) | 333 comments Asora walked over, crouching down. "Okay," she said. "Wake me if you get too tired."

message 87: by [deleted user] (new)

Clark nodded. “Alright.” He watched the forest and let Asora sleep. He glanced back at her, watching her for a little bit, then turning back to watch the forest. She was pretty, and he had to admit he was a little sad she would have to die sooner or later.

message 88: by [deleted user] (new)

Prim looked around the tree that she was sitting in. The coldness had gotten to her, but she was luckily able to hide all the parts of her body that had nothing on it from the cold by forming a ball with her body. She felt something in her poker after moving around a little bit, she pulled them out to see that they were gloves, she sighed in relief and put them on her cold hands.

Vincent frowned, then nodded. "Alright." He hesitated, then added, "Stay safe, idiots. I'll be back soon." He walked off into the trees, keeping his eyes peeled for catmint or winterberry. Preferably both.
He wondered what Theo was doing. If he missed him.
Probably not.
The damned Capitol had changed him for good.
And Vincent had long let him go.
There was no point in holding onto connections in the past. And besides, if they saw each other ever again, it was likely that only one of them would make it out alive. Him, of course.
After walking about fifteen minutes, he found a patch of catmint and winterberry. There was a good amount of catmint, which he plucked from the ground, but not nearly enough winterberry.
It'll have to do.
He sighed, gathering up the plants and running back to their spot in the forest, dropping the plants next to Kitt and Crofton.

Crofton nodded, shifting his weight against the tree. "If I pass out, you better not leave me here." He told the other two. His vision was a little blurry, but he was still coherent enough to talk. Barely. A little less than he let on.

"I thought about it," Vincent said truthfully. "But then I realized that you could be valuable. And also...you may or may not be good company." He said, looking slightly concerned at Crofton's state. "Are you alright? I think you should rest."

message 93: by ѕнєяℓσ¢к ♡ (last edited Jun 10, 2021 11:05AM) (new)

ѕнєяℓσ¢к ♡ (mushroomlad) Kitt gave a short chuckle. "Good to know you care," he replied as Vincent walked off, leaving him and Crofton. Then he shifted his gaze to his ally. "I won't," he said seriously, his voice sharp instead of his usual sarcastic drawl. He noticed that Crofton seemed to be a little dizzy. "Hey, don't pass out, okay? We can't have you doing that or we'll be too vulnerable." He quickly attempted to mask his concern with a desire to win, although he wasn't totally sure he was doing a good job of it. He then looked at the plants beside him and back up at Vincent. "Have we got something to crush these with?" he asked as he began to peel the winterberry to get to the inner bark. He noticed there wasn't much and although he wanted to use it for himself to make sure his scrapes didn't get infected, he recognised how much worse Crofton's wound was.

Clark motioned towards the voices with his head and mouthed ‘people.’ He nodded in the other direction. “Time to go.” He hissed, before jumping out of cover, grabbing the fat rabbit, then sprinting away, grabbing Asora and pulling her along.
