Jasmine | 94 comments I would be happy to give you some suggestions and thank you for speaking up BookwormBelle . Perhaps DM me for them (I don't bite!). I don't wish to derail the general thread.

Though I feel I must point out, the term "black feminism" is seriously problematic and just goes to show the level of ignorance here. Which was my original point.

Please understand feminism originated with oppressed black women and is inherently ours from origin. So there isn't any 'feminism' then 'black feminism'. As that implies white women own feminism.

When it literally comes from global black culture.

I could take you to Ghanaian families where matriarchal rule is still the norm and even the boys of the family honor and adore this tradition :)

You are right her form is sanitise but OurSharedShelf is her institution and we can't criticise her here. Personally I believe that she is not a great thinker but she has some kind of expertise, how? By having lots of people working for her.

I think Manousos that Emma Watson has proved again and again that she is a great thinker. You know how? First of all herd words match her actions.

Multiple flights across the world in spite of climate change? Thats not deeds matching words. That's hypocrisy.

Well Emma's feminism is the most spectacular form of feminism, behind it there is her theory, as she said in her famous speech "Feminism is what I believe", and "Its not the word that counts but the Idea Behind it".

-Yes exactly. Millionaire white celeb platitudes. That you clap.

Meanwhile women on the lowest wage earn half the same guy in their position. And you don't care.

I don't know how many pair our Boss Lady has but in 2014 she auctioned a pair and it sold 10.000 euros... Money went to poor people.

Evgeny Becket Hi all. What can you say about someone like Annie Leibovitz?

message 62: by Antonio (new)

Antonio Wats | 36 comments Evgeny wrote: "Hi all. What can you say about someone like Annie Leibovitz?"

She is a woman artist... I think it will be better as a man for me to not judge.

Evgeny Becket Hi all. I am in an information vacuum. What's new in feminist theory and practice lately? Can you suggest a book or a video?

Message me if you're genuinely trying to educate yourself.

Antonio Wats | 36 comments Feminism has become so confusing these days. Everyone proclaims to be a feminist these days and it's very difficult to find a direction if you are not well-informed.
Emma Watson in her latest interview stated that right now she meditates on femininity. I hope she shares her light with us.

message 66: by Evgeny (new)

Evgeny Becket Hi guys. I wanted to ask you how you feel about large-scale festivals or performances, marches through cities in different countries in support of feminism. What does it mean to you?

message 67: by Salomon (new)

Salomon Melchisedek | 4 comments Emma Watson proved to me recently that she is a Thinker. Her concepts of intersectionality and inclusivety are crucial for understanding today's feminism.
Her discipline, her strength, her outstanding intelligence and her otherworldly looks make her a unique woman. Emma Watson is what we could call a feminist philosopher.
