A Selection discussion

After taking her fill of chocolate and small cakes from the ball and meeting the prince, Katniss had determined she wanted to explore a little, get a head start so that if she needed to meet with the prince at any point later, she'd at least know where she was headed.
Besides, she was eager to explore the place that would be her home for, well, hopefully awhile. It was a palace, besides. She'd never been anywhere like it.
So after a few minutes of hurrying down the hall, still dazzled in her silver and blue gown, Katniss pushed open the door to the library and stepped inside. She'd never seen so many books before, and immediately began to run her hands alongside the spines of them as she walked up and down the aisles in awe.

I haven’t roleplayed in almost a year just an FYI also I can move Kieran’s age to 18 for the is rp)) Kirean, the Prince’s personal butler was lounging on one of the royal couches. He wasn’t wearing his usual attire which was a simple all black suit and a solid black tie; instead he was wearing a white button shirt with that was creased and black bottoms. He wasn’t expecting anyone to come at this hour, usually all the girls would be down in the Ladies Room or gossiping about which one would be chosen. He picked a book off the floor and put it back on the shelf, watching the strange girl. He smirked at her expression “Your acting like you’ve never seen a book before.” He said with a baritone voice

Katniss gasped, not having heard anyone come in the room, but when she whirled around, hands clasped behind her like she had just touched something she wasn't supposed to, she saw someone lounging on a couch. So apparently, she'd missed him when she entered.
She swallowed hard, disliking the smirk on his face. It felt condescending, and while she had experience with those types of people, it still rubbed her the wrong way. Her cheeks were flushed at his comment. "I-I have." She gestured at them. "But there's so many. So many! And some are so old, can you believe that?! And well, I don't get to read often, I don't get to be around many books." And there she went, running her mouth again to someone she didn't even know.

It’s fine you don’t have to change her age :D )) He studied her expression, her face was flushed and she seemed to be embarrassed. In his opinion she also seemed to be a bit naive and clueless. He rolled his eyes and scoffed “You are acting awfully childish Ms. Laughlin, these books are nothing to make a fuss about” He gestured towards the books; his face showing he was clearly uninterested in this conversation. “If you want the Prince too pick you was his Queen, I suggest acting like one” Kirean said with a cold tone. He looked straight into her eyes to see any signs of hesitation.

((okay! :) )) Katniss literally stared at him now, quite like a fish with her jaw dropped. "I--excuse me?" She finally managed, and now her cheeks flushed but it wasn't solely embarrassment. Who was this man to dare tell her how to act? "Childish? I am a 5, we don't have access to tons of books. And how do you know my name, who are you?" She narrowed her eyes. "Are you the real prince and was that kind soul we met in the ball some cover-up? Because if you're really the prince, you should learn some manners." She narrowed her eyes at the comment about the Queen. "Who's to say a queen cannot be curious? I'd say that's a rather good trait." But just great--someone else who got agitated with her excessive chatter and fascination with the world around her.

Kirean gasped, not expecting someone to talk back to him, but he covered it up with a cough. He got up and moved towards the Katniss, he was a barely a few inches from her. His eyes were filled with rage. “How dare you insult the prince!” He pushed her against the wall, threateningly like. The prince was a very kind person. He was the one that took him in. He looked at her with mixed feelings. He felt a bit apologetic but there was no way he would apologize. It would taint what people perceived him as. He chucked bitterly “A Queen should be seen not heard”. Kirean immediately cringed at his words, regretting them but not taking them back.

She cried out as her back slammed against the wall. Panic flared in her chest, and she pressed both hands behind her. "Wh--you--" She hadn't even insulted the prince! Well, if this guy had been the prince then she had, but evidently he wasn't. Her face twisted at his last words. "That is so not true! I understand the prince has a duty to be a king and that the queen needs to help and have heirs, but not heard? You're horrible!"
Katniss was cheerful, and she didn't get that angrily easily. But this man? His temper had flown off the handle, fast, and she was scared. She hated violence, would almost never condone it. But she didn't know what this guy wanted, so, she used her leg strength--and she had a lot of it as a dancer--and slammed her knee between his legs. "A-and get away from me!" She added, shaking.

Kirean winced in pain. He laughed trying to pretend he was alright “That’s the best you can do?” He said it with a dark glint in his eyes. He didn’t move as she had asked “ever-so kindly”. He tipped her chin up with his long slender fingers “Am I, darling?” He brushed hair out of her face. “At least tell me that with a straight face so I know your genuine”. The moon had from the windows made his facial features more delicate and somber. He did his signature smirk, holding her by the waist so she couldn’t run off.

She gaped and tried to move her face away from him. Her trembling increased, and it was all she could do to hope there were cameras in the room. For someone who so vehemently supported such a kind prince, he sure was a jerk. She wasnt a fighter, had no cool moves she could bust out. Well, she could kick, but in a heavy, jeweled ball gown? That would be tougher. "That's not the best I can do." She kneed him harder and then stomped on his feet, trying to twist his arm on her waist aside. "And I'll say it again! You're a jerk!"

He cried out in pain. “You little rat!” Kieran let go of her, clutching his foot. He leaned against the wall and books came falling down. He closed his eyes mumbling some words that were inaudible. He sneered “Now, Now” he said with a mocking tone, as if she were a child “You mustn’t treat me like this” he continued “I am the Prince’s butler after all, I wonder what would happen if I told him about this incident…” Kieran said “I don’t know perhaps he would have you eliminated…” He looked at her with a blank expression “But I am a merciful man so I won’t tell him” he paused contemplating what he should do “For a price of course”

"Prince's butler?! How could he have such a low, horrible person for a servant!? And have me eliminated? Well, you know what? Perhaps that's not such a bad thing." She stuck a finger into his face after slipping away from him as he let her go, and she slammed her heeled foot into his shin just for good measure. "I certainly don't want his hand in marriage if you're around." She was tempted to sneer that he was just a servant, but even that was too mean and wouldn't make the situation any better. "You know what?" Katniss huffed, her red hair, some loose from her braid, hanging in her face. "Tell him. I'm not paying you anything."

He clenched his fists trying to hide the pain once more. He couldn’t let his facade down, he thought; and how dare a low class girl like her disobey someone like himself. And after all the chances he gave for her to apologize, she wouldn’t stand down. In a weird way he was grudgingly impressed. He said in a slightly amused tone “Of course I’ll tell him if you really want me to. No more palace life and no more selection. I wonder what would happen if you got eliminated so soon… What would your town say? That would be a big embarrassment” He sighed in fake pity “What a shame”. He pushed himself off the wall and he bowed to the stubborn girl mockingly, looking up at her as he did. He turned around to go to the door “It was nice meeting you Ms. Laughlin”. He wasn't sure if we was actually going to tell, most likely not but it would be fun to use her, then break her… ((Btw i meant like not a real price just a metaphor sorry about the confusion))

Her jaw twitched at his comment about the Selection, about leaving and basically bringing disgrace to her town. Her family. Her mother loved her now, but she didn't love her brother. Clearly her mother's love was conditional on something, and Katniss feared hers would be lost should she be kicked out. And this butler was right. It was so early. But also, she couldn't bend to his will. "You're a terrible person," she told him in a breathless voice. "And tell him or not, that's up to you. But from what I saw of the prince, he wouldn't believe you. And it was not nice meeting you. You shouldn't even know my name!" She had never met someone so absolutely disgusting. Her own brother was garbage but she believed he had some good in him somewhere. He was just hurt. She got that. But this guy? Maybe deep down there was some light, but he was still terrible.

He smirked, clearly he had stuck a nerve. But deep down he knew this wasn’t right, he just didn’t know what to do with his feelings. He just wanted to be loved but by whom. All the people who approached him were only invested in his looks, and not him as a person. He ran a hand through his black hair pushing it back; he did that sometimes when he was making hard decisions or when he was uncomfortable. He turned his he ad to the side and told Katniss “I can tell we will do great things together Ms. Laugnin” “I hope we meet again someday” and with that he walked out the door, not sure about how he was feeling about the situation. He banged a fist against the wall “Ugh! Why is it so hard!” ((Time Skips?? Also which location should we go to next))

The audacity of this man was highly, highly unbelievable. She was utterly shocked. "Great things together?! I'd rather I never see you again! Your brain shouldn't even fit inside your head!" She called after him, and then waited for a few minutes after he was gone to lean against the wall and catch her breath. Finally, after ten minutes, she hurried to her room, hoping cameras had caught their entire interaction and that he'd be fired. It was a horrible thought, especially for her, but she just couldn't help it.

"I'm so sorry!," Bella exclaimed. She was coming around the corner of a book self when she walked into a palace guard.

"Sorry," Bella said once again quietly. "I was just heading back to my room."

"That would be wonderful..?" Bella asked, hinting for him to tell her his name.

"It's Bella, and yours?"

'Thank you Aiden," Bella replied. She luckily hadn't trip on there walk to the library.

"No problem, ma'am. It was nice to meet you Bella" Aiden said

"Do you like to read Aiden?" Bella asked turning to face him.

Zeke led Shannon down the hallway and into the library. "Here we are." he said.

Shannon gawked at the library

“This place is HUGE” she exclaimed.
“I swear to god if I dont find a book tat doesn’t have a happy ending I’m going to lose it” she muttered
“Do you like Shakespeare Zeke?” She asked.

"Actually, I do. But I haven't had much time to read lately, even though I enjoy it."

Shannon was intrigued
“Thats cool, I didn’t know you liked to read, which I guess is normal since I literally met you like thirty minutes ago” she said laughing only slightly. Shannon thought about it for a second
“Wait so does that mean you like reading about depressing romances?!” She said as she raised an eye brow with a teasing smile playing on her lips

"I have to admit, sometimes I do." He laughed. "I love reading romance, and sometimes poetry, actually."

Shannon thought that was extremely cute
“Well if you like romance books, do you have any good recommendations, ya know any books that won’t make me throw the book at a vase?” Shannon said with a cheeky smile.

Zeke was having trouble controlling himself. She was so beautiful when she smiled. "Hmm." He walked over to a shelf that was labeled "romance" and took out a few of his favorites. "I like these, but if they don't look interesting you can look at the others in this shelf."

Shannon grinned peered over his shoulder to read the synopsis of the books.
“Oou those look interesting mind if I read the first page real quick” she said as she held out her hand, basically asking for the book.

He handed her the book and set the others on the table next to them. "Sure." he said.

Shannon took the books carefully and opened to the first page on the first book of the stack. She read, very concentrated on the words, when she got to the half mark of the first page she realized she must have been making her concentrated face, her cheeks burned red and she held the books to her chest.
“Thank you for the book recommendations, they seem very interesting.”

“Of course. Are you okay? Did I upset you?”

Shannon laughed nervously
“Not at all, it’s just I do a really embarrassing face when I’m concentrated, which is what I just did right now.” She said as she looked down at the floor her face Turning impossibly red

“Oh, I do the same thing sometimes.” Zeke said. “But you actually look... never mind, this is already risky.”
