the selection | semi-advanced discussion

yeah just a bit though
But, what about the plot? What about it should I change?
Hmm.. are we having two crowned people. Like two princess, two princes, one princess and one prince? Or only one?
But that sounds good! Three princes, two princesses. Or three princesses? Nah, I like yours. Unless the crowned is a prince. Then three princess and two princes + crowned prince.
But that sounds good!
Also can I like call dibs on ..."
yea, you can
Queenie. Yeah, I trust her. A lot. I've known them for a while now (Meaning a few good months). And I've made really good groups with her before.
But that sounds good!
Also can I ..."
🐍 THank you!
( All I know is I'm making one of the younger princes- )
I'm fine with either honestly. Maybe we start with one? And then after the Selection ends, we can like.. skip to the next one where there's two crowned?
(I want the middle child--Whether its a prince or a princess. I don't really care)
The Selection is a competition that’s been part of royal history since forever. Basically, there are thirty-five girls who are called the Selected. They compete for the Crowned Pri..."
ooo nice!
Your welcome!
yeye ofc"
thanks!
Okay have fun!
sign below. If you do not, you will not be able to roleplay and even if you submit a character, it cannot be accepted. I urge mods to check this before approving new member's characters. If I notice that you have no understanding of the rules, you will receive a warning and I suggest you read the rules thoroughly.
001. semi-advanced
- You must have an appropriate level of detail in responses, as well as your characters. Therefore, the minimum for responses is five sentences. That also doesn't mean short, baby sentences. We are all big kids, so I expect proper, detailed responses. Placing a period in the middle of a sentence also doesn't make it a sentence. Characters have thoughts, feelings. Don't make them shallow. Trust me, it'll help.
002. grammar and punctuation
- I fully expect proper punctuation and grammar. I'm okay with occasional mistakes, but if you cannot write proper sentences with proper punctuation and can't use proper grammar and spelling, I suggest looking up a few youtube videos or talking to a teacher for extra tutoring and help, as you can't go very far without those things. sorry, not sorry. Punctuation might not seem like a big deal, but it determines the tone of your writing, as well as the words and grammar you use. Whether it's writing a novel or just sending an email to your boss, it's important. If you use abbreviations such as 'u' or 'ur', it'll be taken as you texting your best friend and you won't be taken seriously. Punctuation determines when you pause and stuff. For example, "Let's eat, Grandma" could be "Let's eat grandma." Or, "Eat your dinner" can be "Eat. You're dinner." See how that can be problematic? It sets the tone, and it can even change the meaning of your words entirely.
003. no godmodding
- godmodding is unacceptable. this includes metagaming and anything of the sort. You aren't going to be all-knowing, you aren't going to be perfect, you can't dodge every punch in a fight. stuff like that is a no-no as it's irritating.
004. mary/gary sues.
- like previously stated, you cannot be all-powerful or perfect. I expect, along with their capability, there are reasonable and plentiful limitations to going along with this. your character won't be accepted if it's perfect.
005. third person
- sorry, but you may only roleplay in the third person. for example, it would be 'sarah stared at the gate before her, astonished.' not 'I stared at the gate, completely astonished.' However, you may put their thoughts and stuff in the response, either directly or in a roundabout way. 'sarah stared at the gate before her, completely astonished. what was happening? was this a dream?' or 'sarah stared at the gate before her, completely astonished. 'what is happening? is this a dream?' she thought to herself, mouth wide open.' If you haven't noticed, how you write the situation can also change the tone and which words you use. By stating her thoughts indirectly, I used words like 'was', however, when stating her thoughts directly, I used 'is.'
- I'd also like to state you are not your character. You may have self-inserts, however, don't include personal information. I'm sure I'm not the only one, but it is very annoying when someone refers to themself as their character, such as 'my abilities are' or 'yeah, this is how I awakened my character.' Even if you do roleplay in third person when it comes down to this, seeing this out of character can be very confusing and annoying. Please refer to your character as a separate entity.
006. no cyberbullying
- This should be a given. Your characters are allowed to be mean, rude, whatever. However, you MAY NOT, be rude or mean to the admin, or the person playing the character. So, if you were to call someone a bitch out of character, it would be unacceptable. You may not also trash talk about someone's character. be respectable and mature.
007. personal info
- do not share personal information here. I don't care if you say something like your age or anything like that, however, saying stuff like your address, real name, etc is a big nono. I, personally, suggest not to do this online at all, but if you are going to regardless, do it in DMs. We also don't want face reveals. no doxing or anything like that either.
008. respect
- you must respect not only the mods but the other members. if you do, we will naturally do the same. please do not argue with mods or other members either, instead, take it to dms. If it's a personal issue with a mod, bring it to dms, if not, do not argue with mods period.
- you may not rush people either. this falls under respect. you must respect their boundaries, triggers, and even their time. if they cannot respond, please respect that. be patient, people have lives.
- you also can't just jump into other people's roleplays or jump into a thread that's in use. this is disrespectful, and honestly, just annoying. If you're not sure, ask and wait for a response from the people who are roleplaying there.
009 appropriate
- keep things appropriate. anything like NSFW and everything should be taken to DMs or not done at all. it's not acceptable here. there is bound to be gore and violence here though, and I'm not going to restrict the mentions of drugs though. however, if you do have these in your responses, mark them off with a trigger warning. if anyone reads it after seeing the words 'trigger warning' then it's their fault. I suggest putting it in big and bold for them to see. you will not be reprimanded if you do so.
010. discrimination
- it's pretty obvious, but I'll state it anyway. no racist comments, no shaming others, nothing. Be accepting or shut your mouth. We don't want to hear it. no politics either.
011. character/personal threads
- you will be in charge of your own personal threads. if you want a character thread? make it yourself, you get one. If you want a thread in messages between your character and another so they can text? make it yourself. if you can't, ask a mod then.
i just copied my rules from my gatebreak group and tweaked them a bit
( I'm fine with any of them, i just need to know )
no that's great!
( I'm fine with any of them, i just need to know )"
I'm feeling some modern type vibes. I'm not really sure lets see what Mel thinks!
First off:The rules look great! I was actually thinking about those exact, well almost exact, rules in the car on the way home.
Second off: I'll make some filters and folders. By the way, is it okay if I come up with all the important info? Such as Caste and such? Maybe we could all have 'tasks'. Like one person does all the creation threads. Or we all make filter topics and some one sorts and renames them? Also, Skye or I could make a To-Do list.
Third off: I think modern works? Like maybe all the buildings and some laws are oldy but the rest is pretty modern? But I love magic.. Hmm... the royals could all have 'tattoos' that are like magical triggers (If you guys want to hear more about this idea, I could tell you, or you could read the Nicholas Flamel books)
Fourth off: I actually want the Crowned Prince if that's alright. I was thinking about it in the car and I have a plan/plot/thing I want to do. Plus, I'd get to choose who I'd want to go and stay and stuff.
Fifth off: Goodnight Skye (Also, are we friends on GR? I think I sent a request...)
2; you can, and that'd be great because I'm awful at things
3; I actually really like that idea a lot. If skye is okay with it, we can do all of that
4; You can!
Also, I'll talk to Skye about who's going to make a To-Do list. Maybe her.. since I'm doing a lot. Which is fine of course, I like doing a lot in groups. Oh! And who would do the character list? If we had one.
Sweet! I could probably write a few paragraphs about magical triggers tomorrow if Skye is alright with it.
Thanks.. Arin (We're going with that for the minute. I'm trying to come up with a nickname for your new user. Maybe Cio or cArdI XD I'll figure it out)
