July 2021 Group Read Nominations
Clown Corn needs to make more of an appearance around HA.
Just something about that little guy... :D

ah, The Ceremonies has a farm.

But here's stuff with a focus on farms.
There is this horror duology specifically about farmhouses. the duology is literally about "farmhouse horror". which I didn't know was even a thing... but here we are!
the description even includes "corn rustling".
the thing is I wish it were all just one book. I really don't know why it isn't beyond trying to syphon more money from people. maybe that's a good enough reasons, I'm not so sure. they could just charge more for the one book? as each of said duology is under 100 pages so I'm unsure if they qualify. they're kindle unlimited though if that means anything

Then there's this revenge of the vegan/vegetarian type of "farm" book that might be interesting. i don't think it's pushing an agenda in case anyone may think that... This one is also kindle unlimited

Then there's this book that may just use the word farm as a euphemism (maybe so did the last one now that I think about it...) but it seemed like neat concept so i'm suggesting it anyways. it's kinda of a 'life sucks, but uh-oh death is worse! regret regret regret!' kinda thing. though if the subject of suicide bothers people then maybe pass on this. it's an understandably very touchy subject. especially if used as a plot device I'd gather...

2 notes about the nominations.
I know one member posted a link to some third party site where you can buy an epub The Ceremonies, but unless someone can demonstrate where it's more readily available for Kindle/Nook etc., through Amazon/B&N, it won't be eligible for the read so as not to exclude readers who use these methods.
I will be happy to set up a Buddy Read for the book for those who own it and want to read it that way.
As for The Elementals, it does not meet the theme. It's primarily about haunted mansions and beaches and sand, and therefore is not eligible.
Again, we can set up a Buddy Read if people are interested.
There have been lots of other great suggestions, so keep the corn and clowns coming.

Also, personally I am interested in a Buddy Read for The Ceremonies, if there are others who are interested in joining.

I’ve never done a buddy read but I might be up for one on The Ceremonies. I’ve been meaning to read it for decades and I’m determined to do it this summer.

The theme for July's Group Reads is: The Revenge of Clown Corn! We first met this scary/jolly fellow during last year's Group Read of Clown in a Cornfield, and now heeeee's baaa-aaack!
...and he's looking for horror books that feature clowns and/or corn/fields/farms.
- Stephen King's IT and Children of the Corn are NOT eligible. Clown Corn wants to read something new!
- Previous Group Reads and Buddy Reads will NOT be eligible.
Lists of these reads can be found here:
https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...
https://www.goodreads.com/topic/group...
- While you may nominate any horror book that meets the criteria, remember: the more books nominated, the less chance the one you REALLY want to read will win, so it's suggested not to nominate more than 3 books.
- Books with the most nominations, seconds, thirds, etc., have a better chance of making the final poll.
- AUTHORS and PUBLISHERS may NOT nominate their own works.
