Ender’s game is important. It’s important to me, because it was my introduction to what sci-fi could be. It’s important to the literary community at large because of the ethical questions the book attempts to raise. It's even important to the military because of how accurately and descriptively the book describes relevant tactics, so I think that you should try to find some importance in it too. Ender’s game is a science fiction book written by Orson Scott Card in 1985, and it follows the training of Ender Wiggin. Ender is one of several talented young children being trained by the International Fleet in preparation for a presumed future war. The presumed war is against alien creatures called the Formics, derogatorily called “buggers” by most people. Despite the setup seeming like just another humans vs. aliens story, Card places emphasis on the morality of the war by emphasizing the absence of compassion and ignorance of the human admiralty. Aside from the interesting questions that the book creates, the writing and pacing are all excellent, making for a great reading experience.
