This month we've read 'The Lies of Locke Lamora' by Scott Lynch. What did you think about it?

I am sad to say that I had to DNF this book around the 60 page mark :( .

There was some aspects of it that I found interesting, especially about the timeline when Lock Lamora was young, but it wasn't enough to make me keep reading. I found it really hard to get into the story, mostly because of the writing style. Scott Lynch uses a lot of description, and fancy, complicated words witch just made the reading prosses so slow for me.

Another thing was the jumping timelines. They were a little confusing to start with, but as you got deeper into the story it became easier to distinguish them. The problem was that there didn't really happen much in any of them, or when things was happening the action was packed in between a lot of description witch just made the whole thing a bit boring to be honest.

This book mas putting me into a reading slump so I made the decision to put it down. I am however not completely against the idea of trying it again sometime in the future.

DNF. I did not finish this book either. First,I tried reading the physical book, which I gave up after about 50 pages. I figured I'd give it one more chance, so I downloaded the audio book. That one was slightly better, however one hour into it I had to throw in the towel. It was simply not for me. The language was knotty and I fell fast out of the story.

I should mention that this is also my first book within the fantsy genre, so I'm not really used to reading these kind of books. I wasn't very motivated to pick it up because I've kinda convinced myself that fantasy just isn't for me. I hope that 'The Lies of Locke Lamora' isn't representative for all fantasy books because we'll probably read some other fantasy books in this book club. Hopefully they'll be better!
