A book that I have heard of, and seems to fit the category, but is completely different from my usual reading preferences. I am using it to "expand" my horizons...

Never read the book but I remember watching the cartoon in elementary school.
I'll join you and read this one next week. I have it on my Kindle.
Well, my copy arrived from the library and I learned it was an "adaption". Not what I was looking for, so I looked for a kindle version and found one FREE. Woohoo! Apparently this is one chapter within the Jungle Book whole (also available free). I read it and enjoyed it. I'm glad I expanded my horizons a bit and went for an animal book rather than my usual Alien-type nonhuman character story.
I read it today too. I had downloaded the Kindle version. Maybe I'll read the whole Jungle Book soon. I'm reading through several children's books this week with my daughter with non-human subjects.
I can remember reading this as a kid. I think I'll join you with this one as my original choice didn't have characters "non-human" enough to really fit.
Well, I'd forgotten how short this story was. I still enjoy the story and maybe I'll read the whole Jungle Books one day.
