Around the Year in 52 Books discussion

I have questions about the end, if anyone one has read it and has options/thoughts/ideas I would love to hear them.

I never read the The Silent Patient and my understanding is that Theo is one of the characters in that book. Does any of that make a difference to why he would want Mariana to visit Zoe so bad. Is there any chance he is setting her up? Is the red haired lady he is meeting with anyone of note?

Any thoughts on why Mariana wouldn't wait for Theo to go see Zoe?

I feel like I missed something with this final part but maybe the author was just trying to be cleaver with his cross over characters that is just fell flat for me.

Ok finished! (view spoiler)[You should read The Silent Patient. The red haired woman is important in that book. I'm not sure about the answers to your other questions though. I kind of think the author just wanted both books to be set in the same world and have a crossover, but it seemed weird to me that Theo would seem to be so invested in Mariana and Zoe and for none of that to be mentioned in the previous book. Also hard to see where that could have fit in timing wise in The Silent Patient. (hide spoiler)]

I'm way late to this game but I just finished The Maidens last month so (view spoiler)[I think The Maidens would have been before The Silent Patient, since the job that Theo got towards the end of Maidens was the new job at the clinic that he works at in Silent Patient. I didn't really like the crossover aspect much either though. (hide spoiler)]

Highly recommend The Silent Patient, even though The Maidens fell flat.

Originally, I had little interest and then was spoiled on the twist in the Silent Patient so wasn't that excited to pick it up. But ended up listening to the audiobook. It was better then I expected and even knowing about about the end it wasn't executed the way I anticipated so that was a plus. I thought that overall it was a better book then The Maidens.
