Welcome to the The Sugared Game Buddy Read Discussion thread! This thread officially opens on July 19th and anyone can join at any time. Please keep in mind that spoilers are allowed in this thread but only up to the group's current reading place. Do not spoil the book if you've read further than the group. Any extra days can be used to catch up!

Each day we will be reading by chapters or page numbers. Page numbers are an approximation based on the hardcover or paperback that is the default on Goodreads. The suggested Buddy Read discussion schedule is as follows:

I read the first chapter. I really like Will’s friend Maisie. I don’t remember if I mentioned that from the previous book. She has some spunk.

I had a very busy day so I only got through chapter 2. I really like Maisie too! I hope she has a bigger role in this story. Also, I'm not ready for the lies and excuses Kim is probably about to spew 😒

I'm liking the plot, but Kim still bothers me. I can't remember the last time I enjoyed a love triangle but I kind of wish that Will had another love interest because he deserves better. And Kim deserves to feel as insecure as he makes Will feel. Calling Will "bare and efficient" was so rude.

It was nice seeing Phoebe again! I really hope the romance vibes I'm getting with her and Maisie come to fruition! I also hope that horrible man she mentioned leaves her alone.

I just made it to chapter 11 so I'm 139 pages in.

I've been enjoying how Will is more of a teammate now but I'm just waiting for the other shoe to drop with Kim. He gave me trust issues after the first book 😒

Just got to chapter 14 and the other shoe has DROPPED. I really hope it's not Will who goes crawling back to Kim. I've had enough of Will giving Kim chances. Kim needs to be the one to approach Will this time and show him that their relationship is actually important to him.

I'm finished! How has the book been for you so far?

I'll add more thoughts once I get time to put my review together, but I ended up enjoying this one more than the first one.

I am about halfway through the book. I have been working 10- 12 hour days for a couple weeks now and not wanting to read when I get home. I should have it done by Saturday.

Kim still bothers me too, but not nearly as bad as the first book. I am loving the ladies. There are independent and don’t need a man like most books set in this era.

I know I haven’t finished the book, but I would probably read the next in the series. Is the third one out?

No worries! Work can be draining so I get it. I think the third one came out in June and it actually sounds pretty interesting! I would love to buddy read that one with you too, but probably not any time in August since I'll need a bit of a break once the summer challenge ends 😅

Totally agree about waiting on the buddy read. Maybe we can do something with that during the winter games.

This was definitely better than the first book. I really enjoyed this.
