laurel [the suspected bibliophile] (laurelthereader) description

Welcome to our third quarter challenge!

Like all of our challenges, this one is about you choosing your own path.

The rules are simple, but following them will be a little...difficult...depending on how hard or easy you make it for yourself.

1. Pick a 4, 5 or 6-letter word of your choice (yes, it needs to be a word in English)
2. Choose books with titles that start with each letter, to spell out your word. For example:
My word is BOOK
B Bitten
O Oona Out of Order
O One Last Stop
K King of Scars
3. Read your books and update!

The total books you'll need to read to complete the challenge is between 4 to 6.

If you want to be a little extra, you're more than welcome to complete multiple words or spell out a phrase in book titles (level 4).

The levels:

1. Four Letter Furies
2. Five Letter Fantastics
3. Six Letter Superstars
4. Multiple Word Marvels

As always, there are no page limits for our quarterly challenges.

This challenges runs from July 1st to September 30th

laurel [the suspected bibliophile] (laurelthereader) Three weeks left to finish our hardest challenge of the year!

I am loving all of your words/sentences!

message 18: by Melanie (new)

Melanie | 167 comments Message 8 Updated.

I probably should have picked a longer word or more inspired word, but at the time I really was in kind of a reading slump and trying to push through it. But something about sorting my reading list by alphabet was really an interesting exercise. I ended up struggling to find an R title, so I turned to my Audible wish list and found Rules of Civility by Amor Towles. Wowser! I loved the language and the experience of reading this book so much. So even though my word GIRLS may have been uninspired, that book alone made this challenge worth it. Through June I had only read 22 books toward my 75 book goal for 2021. But something about this challenge finally lit my reading spark again, and I've been able to get myself back on schedule having now read 54 titles and feeling much more inpsired. So thanks for this challenge.

I'd love to see more of this challenge down the road, it was really fun and helped me get through some ARCs as well as a book I'd been wanting to read for a long time.
