Welcome, Trisha! Glad to have you join us. That is a long slump. Hopefully some of our buddy reads will help! :)

Tasha Welcome Trisha!

message 53: by Cathy (new)

Cathy | 23 comments Hi, I’m Cathy from Virginia. I love all genres although recently I’ve been reading more historical fiction, political and mystery. I’ve been using NetGalley for a couple of years. I took a long break and am excited to start reading more. I’m looking forward to meeting new buddies.

PattyMacDotComma Hi - I'm an old lady reader, born and raised in the US on American literature. All of my kids and grandkids have been in born and raised in Australia, where I've lived for more than 50 years.

I've been a NetGalley member since 2015, and my reading choices are pretty wide - everything from children's picture books to some YA, fiction, non-fiction. Just about everything except horror and grisly mysteries (unless they're really good).

I read a fair bit of Aussie material, of course.

I have a soft spot for historical mysteries. I also tend to like stories about young boys growing up. Hello!

message 57: by Tasha (new)

Tasha Hi Patty! Welcome to the group. :)

I love that you are originally from the US but have lived in Australia for more than 50 years. Australia is a place I would love to visit and I can only imagine living there is even more fun!

Welcome to the group, Patty! I've also wanted to visit Australia forever. It's definitely on my bucket list.

message 60: by Katrisa (new)

Katrisa | 202 comments Hi! I just joined Netgalley this month. I am a kindergarten teacher in Utah. I pretty much love all kinds of books. I joined Netgalley primarily so that I could preview children's books for my classroom, but I am also obsessed with audiobooks so I figured that is a bonus from joining Netgalley.

Hi, Katrisa! Welcome to the group! :)

message 62: by Tasha (new)

Tasha Hello Katrisa, that's a beautiful name! Welcome but be careful bc this group will have you adding more books to your tbr, lol. We do a lot of buddy reading here. Looking forward to chatting books with you. :)

Lilisa | 575 comments Hi Katrisa - great to have you here, a big welcome!

message 64: by Katrisa (new)

Katrisa | 202 comments Thanks for the welcome! I may have been hasty thinking I could do buddy reads though! I tried to get some of the books but I'm too new to NG and didn't get then. I'll get there though!

message 65: by Kristie (new)

Kristie | 2899 comments Mod
I'm sure some of our books will match up for buddy reads at some point!

message 66: by Tasha (new)

Tasha Exactly, we definitely don't all get approved for the same books so sometimes it doesn't work out. You can always go back and read the book and make comments. :)

message 67: by Vicki (new)

Vicki (goodreadscomboobooper49) | 89 comments Hi, I have been using NetGalley for quite a while now but at first didn't know how to use it properly, so I got WAY behind on reviews and currently have only a 31% review rate. I had no idea that this group existed so hopefully it might give me the impetus I need to get that percentage up there!

message 68: by Emerald (new)

Emerald Maple (emeraldmaple) | 5 comments Hi, I am new to NG (and a new GR account as my old one was attached to an email that I can't access anymore). I just reviewed my first Read Now book and selected another one.

I am in Canada and love most fiction except romance but love mysteries and horror.

Hi, Vicki! It's a fun way to improve our stats. I think a lot of people take on more than they can read right when they start, so you're certainly not alone in that. :) Welcome to the group.

Welcome, Emerald! Hope you join in for some buddy reads. :)

message 70: by Tasha (last edited Jul 03, 2023 04:40AM) (new)

Tasha Welcome, Vicki and Emerald! This group will help you raise your stats but it may also add to your NG tbr!! It's definitely a balancing act. It's a fun group though as we have lots of buddy reads and discover interesting books from each other. Looking forward to chatting NG books with you guys. :)

message 71: by Evee (new)

Evee (eveestevee2) | 10 comments My name is Evee, & I'm from the Midwest (US).

I just recently started reading books through NetGalley & have a low rating, but my first review was selected as a featured review. So, that's a small perk in the beginning of a new self-assigned responsibility, lol.

I love fantasy, scifi, horror, romance, and historical with romance as an included sub-genre for all mentioned.

I'm hoping to find some potential buddy reads as most of the time I have no one to talk to about my books (aside from a friend who gets out of context screenshots occasionally), and I get very, very excited over them!

message 72: by Tasha (new)

Tasha Welcome Evee! We definitely have lots of buddy reads going on all the time here so you will find plenty of book chat. Look forward to chatting with you. :)

Sanne (sanne_vds) | 2 comments Hi everyone! I came accross this group in one of my favourite reviewers page.

My name is Sanne (pronounced something like Sah-nuh, not sane XD) and I'm from Belgium. I've been using NetGalley for a bit over a year. I also review for BookSiren since this summer. I think, and I think i have the hang of reading stuff in time and when to download to grant yourself a smudge more time if necessary. But it's still more fun to be able to talk about these books with others whilst they're not out in the wild yet. Can't wait to read alongside you all!

message 77: by Tasha (new)

Tasha Welcome, Sanne! I look forward to chatting with you. :)

Nicole Brown (The Crafty Reader) | 11 comments hi there! I'm Nicole, otherwise known as the crafty reader! I'm newish to Netgalley but I have so many books I want to gush about but I can't because they're ARCs! looking forward to meeting and reading with all of you :)

message 87: by Tasha (new)

Tasha Welcome, Nicole! I'm curious about your 'crafty reader' name, how did you come by it? Looking forward to chatting books with you. :)

message 88: by Tasha (new)

Tasha I see why, lol. You love all crafts! I used to crochet years ago when my youngest was small. It was a great stress reliever at the time. I miss it at times but I am so busy now I just don't have the time to relearn it all (it's been many years!).

I linked to your IG page and I see that you recently read Christmas Presents by Lisa Unger , I just read it this week. It was a good holiday season thriller I thought, 4,5 stars.

Welcome to the group, Nicole!

I am also someone who enjoys learning something new. I do all kinds of crafts, including crochet, which I just learned about a year and a half ago. I still haven't made too much yet because I spend my time on other activities as well.

I think you'll enjoy this group. We read a variety, but I think most of us chattier members enjoy a lot of mystery thrillers as well as other genres. Happy to have you join in our discussions. :) Take a look at our schedule and see if you already have any of our planned reads.

message 90: by Tasha (new)

Tasha One of the crafty things that I would like to try is embroidery. Not the old fashioned kind but the really cute designs I see now out there on etsy and IG. So beautiful!

Jammin Jenny (jamminjenny) | 4 comments Hello!

My name is Jenny and I live in Metropolis IL, home of Superman!

I like to read all types of genres, but my favorites are mysteries, horror and science fiction.

I do reviews for Netgalley, Edelweiss and Booksprout.

Welcome, Jenny! I occasionally will get a book through Edelweiss, but I've never visited Booksprout. I'll have to check it out. Glad to have you with us!

message 95: by Shari (new)

Shari (sharielyse) | 1 comments Hi! Just joined this group today and so excited to get to know you all. Reading through the topics and seeing all of your stats is truly inspiring!

My name is Shari and I just joined NetGalley about six months ago. I also have a 7 month old baby boy, so perhaps I’ve completely lost my mind adding ARCs to the mix 🤪. I currently live in Connecticut but have lived in a few different states. Between working full time and having a baby at home, I’ve made reading a priority as “me time” at night and reading ARCs has already brought me so much joy.

Welcome, Shari! Congratulations on your baby boy! We have another member, Elyse, who just had a baby boy about a month ago. I'm super impressed with you ladies carving out reading time with little ones at home! I'm so glad you're finding joy in reading and look forward to chatting with you.

message 99: by Tasha (last edited Feb 26, 2024 04:27AM) (new)

Tasha Welcome Jenny and Shari! Looking forward to chatting books with you guys. :)

Jenny, we have a full-sized Superman in our basement! My husband and BIL love Superman and when he was getting rid of stuff, we took the big guy. We are used to him down there now but when we first brought him home, he would scare us every time we went down there! lol

Shari, I echo Kristie's comments, I'm always impressed by anyone finding me-time with little ones around. My kids are older now so I have more time for me but life does still find ways of keeping me busy, which I'm not complaining about, just laughing about. 😉
