A Mac (a_mac) | 73 comments Hey y'all!

I currently live in the SE U.S. and have been reading my whole life (though I only started seriously reviewing books a couple years ago). I currently only review for NetGalley and BookSirens because they keep me busy enough!

My favorite genres are fantasy, historical fiction, and suspense/thriller, but I honestly read a little of everything (except romance, usually). No one I know reads books, so I'm looking forward to some buddy reads so I can finally talk to someone about books haha

message 103: by Trisha (new)

Trisha | 1580 comments Yay! Welcome! Glad to have you in the group! Hopefully we'll have some Netgalley reads that match up and can buddy up!

Tasha Welcome A! You have definitely found some friends who love to read books AND who read lots of books so you will fit right in. :)

Shruti morethanmylupus (morethanmylupus) | 1111 comments SO many new friends lately! Welcome everyone! Looking forward to buddy reading with you all. :)

Bec | 1 comments Hi all, I just joined this group. I'm Bec from Australia.
Probably my favourites are fantasy, thriller, police procedural, mystery, but I like most except NOT really into horror, poetry, classics. Look forward to reading and chatting with you all.

Edited to say, hmmmm, seems like this group wont' be for me after all. I've checked the buddy reads schedule and I can't get any of those books in my region :(

message 108: by Angie (new)

Angie Carducci | 3 comments Hi, I'm Angie! I'm from Pittsburgh, PA, USA. I'm pretty new to NetGalley, just six approvals so far but I've read (actually listened to, as I've been into audiobooks these days) and provided feedback on them all. I have a food Instagram that unexpectedly reignited my love of reading a couple of years ago, as like-minded foodie friends formed a book exchange club, and have been consistently reviewing on Goodreads and posting the occasional book rec on Insta ever since. I'm mostly into thrillers and contemporary fiction. Excited to join!

Hi from Philly! Welcome! :)

100% completion rate is amazing. I've been hovering around 60% for over a year and am on a mission to catch up this year. Or at least make it to 80%.

Welcome Bec & Angie!

Bec - So sorry I missed your original post! If you're still here, feel free to suggest books that you have access to in the buddy read request thread. Hopefully, some of our available reads will overlap and we can request something you have.

Angie - Happy to have you here! And welcome to NetGalley! I am also an audiobook listener. We have a few in the group, so you are in good company. See you in the discussion threads.

message 111: by Tasha (new)

Tasha Welcome Bev and Angie! I've been busy these days so didn't pop in here for awhile. I hope you guys enjoy the group!

message 112: by Angie (new)

Angie Carducci | 3 comments Hi Shruti, Kristie and Tasha! TY so much for the warm welcome -- I can't wait to participate in the group. Just got approved for my latest audiobook request this morning so going looking to see if there is anyone else reading it right now! :)

message 113: by Tasha (new)

Tasha I'm glad you are jumping in right away. There are readers in this group who read A LOT so you just may find a book buddy for your audio book. :)

message 114: by Bri (new)

Bri Gates (briannagates) Hi everyone, I'm Bri from Greensboro, NC. I'm just starting my ARC reading journey (11 approvals so far), and am so excited to have found this group. I'm a fantasy fanatic, and love a good romance or horror as well.

My current read (Water Moon by Samantha Sotto Yambao) is blowing me away, so I am super excited to chat with folks about all the good (and not so good) books they've been reading too.

Chris | 4 comments Hi guys, I'm new to this group but have been using Netgalley and reviewing for a couple of years. I really like the idea of buddying up and discussing ARC's as I read them, any tips for getting involved would be very much appreciated.

message 119: by Kristie (new)

Kristie | 2899 comments Mod
Hi Chris! Welcome to the group! Pretty much just check out the threads to see if there are any buddy reads you want to join in on or go to the request a buddy thread to ask if anyone wants to read a specific book with you that isn't already planned. You can also check out the schedule to see what books have been planned. We're a friendly group, so feel free to ask any questions or just jump in on a read.

message 121: by BONNIE (new)

BONNIE SMITH (i_bee_reading) | 14 comments Hello, my name is Bonnie Smith and I've been using NetGalley for about 5 months- it's pulled me out of a VERY long slump. While in college I lost my love of reading and after finally completing my last degree I have fallen back in lust with squirreling away with a book and tea.
I read everything but tend to gravitate towards thrillers, fantasy and rom-coms. Looking forward to chatting with those reading similar books!

message 122: by Chris (new)

Chris | 4 comments Hi Bonnie, well done on completing your degree and happy reading.

Shruti morethanmylupus (morethanmylupus) | 1111 comments Hi Bonnie. Congrats on completing! welcome to the group :) There are lots of us reading thrillers here

Welcome, Bonnie! Congrats on completing your degree. It is very difficult to maintain a love and time for reading while in college. I'm glad you found your way back to it. I look forward to chatting books with you.

message 125: by Tasha (new)

Tasha Welcome, Bonnie! You will fit right in with your reading preferences, lots of thrillers and rom-coms here, Of course, all sorts of other genres too so you will have lots to read and chat about!

message 126: by LinaVer (new)

LinaVer Hello, my name is Lina. I am Lithuanian, but live in the Netherlands. I've loved reading since I was very little and chose to study language (my mother tongue) and literature for that reason. I've only recently heard about the concept of arcs though, I've always thought only the lucky influencers get to read books before they get published. 🤣 I'm on BookSprout, BookSirens and now Netgalley. At first, all my requests just got cancelled because I'm not on socials and my Goodreads account is also pretty unknown (I've had a profile many years before but then deleted it, and only rejoined GR two years ago). I then did some research and read somewhere that it's good to start with books that are offered to everyone on Netgalley, so that's what I am doing right now. Currently at 50% rating with one book reviewed and another on the shelves.
I read pretty much everything except non-fiction (although I dabble in that sometimes too). Historical romance, magical realism, fantasy is what I love most.
Would love to make new friends, feel free to add or message me, or recommend me books! 📚 😍

Poppy Cain (poppycain) | 1 comments Hiya I'm Poppy! I've been on NetGalley since 2020 which seems very long now I think about it ^^' I'm from Manchester in the UK, and I'm currently battling through a Masters Degree.

I loveloveLOVE fantasy, especially YA and New Adult stuff, and have a serious addiction to buying more books than I can read. I also read a good deal of romance and sci-fi and paranormal when they spark interest :D

I currently have a 56% feedback ratio for 107 total approved, because I went a bid mad after not reading anything (<12 books) in 2023 and requested a whole bunch that I somehow got approved for and am now working through them diligently!! I promise my ratio isn't always so dismal ^^'

Currently reading Blood and Hercules for a delayed review and finding it quite funny!

Welcome to the group, Poppy! I think we've all gone through a time when we requested too much. It's so easy to do. No judgement or feedback shaming here! Well done for making time for pleasure reading while working on your masters degree.

Carl Reads (carlreadsbooks) Hi, everyone. I'm Carl, from Brazil, and living in Manchester. I've been reviewing for NetGalley since 2024, and currently with 59 approvals (77%). I mainly read literary fiction mixed with contemporary, horror, fantasy and sci-fi. I love lyrical prose and thought-provoking novels. I adore the idea of buddy reading and hopefully will find someone with similar tastes.

April More | 2 comments Hello everyone, my name is April and I am new to NetGalley. My first book is, A Kingdom of Shadow and Ash by J. F. John’s. It comes out May 30th 2025. I have done 3 other arcs from authors, but this book is my first from NetGalley. My 2nd book from NetGalley is, Witch of the Wolves by Kaylee Archer.

I am also new to Goodreads and how everything works. I would love reading buddies and friends.

I enjoy fantasy and romance books. Just started reading again in November 2024. I had major surgery and can’t work, so I have plenty of time for reading.

--Keres-- | 4 comments ✨ Hey book fam! ✨

I’m a special edition book addict from Australia 🇦🇺—give me sprayed edges, foil detailing, or secret dust jacket art and I’m sold. I’m also a dog mum, working full-time in the military, and books are my favorite escape from the chaos of real life.

I read everything—from light and fluffy romances to the darkest, most soul-wrecking stories you can imagine. No genre is off-limits, and I love being pleasantly surprised by a book I didn’t see coming.

I’m all about supporting indie authors and will never say no to a juicy ARC. My ultimate weakness? Books with banter that makes me laugh like an idiot or emotional moments that leave me crying at 2am. If it spirals me into a book hangover, it’s a win in my eyes.

So if you're into spicy chaos, unhinged characters, and beautiful editions that make your bookshelf scream—let’s be friends 💀📚
