I've just started Under the Whispering Door
. I love the look of Klune's covers and his writing style has a smooth feel to it that makes the story go by quickly.
I'm only at 10%, but right away there is an initial A Christmas Carol vibe to it. I'm curious to see where Kline takes the story and what his interpretation of the afterlife will be.

I’m one of those who didn’t care for All the Light We Cannot See at all, but very much enjoyed a couple of his nonfiction Four Seasons in Rome: On Twins, Insomnia, and the Biggest Funeral in the History of the World and his short stories The Shell Collector.

Oooh good luck with it! Check our buddy read as you read it!

Thanks for the reminder Elyse! I’m at the 44% mark and I’m not wowed at all. I trotted over and checked out the discussion thread. I chuckled at your *shrug* comment. I’m wondering where the book is going…don’t think I’m having much luck with any of Doerr’s hyped books.

Glad it has you interested, Tasha. Hope the writing is growing on you.
I'm still reading Under the Whispering Door
, which I'm loving. I think I'm enjoying it even more than his last book. That might just be because I knew what to expect from his writing style this time, but I find the concept really interesting too.
I'm also starting The Santa Suit
for our buddy read. I've only finished chapter one, but I think this is going to be just the sort of book I need right now.

I finished Under the Whispering Door
. I thought it was a really great story.
my Under the Whispering Door review
I'm very slowly working my way through The Santa Suit. It's initially good, but I just haven't had much reading time recently.

I thought it was good Tasha. Learned quite a bit about Lyme disease and its treatment or lack thereof!

I'm sure, it's such an awful thing with so many unknowns.

I'm going to pass. :)

Great review!
I just finished The Santa Suit
. It was a cute Christmas story.
my Santa Suit review
Next up I have These Silent Woods and Best in Snow. I'm looking forward to both of them. :)

I'll come back to let you know how it is. I have 4 GR friends that have read it so far and they all gave it 5 stars, so I have high expectations!

Great review!"
Thanks! :-)

Ok, looking forward to what you think even more so now. :)

I just finished Best in Snow
. It is a really fun series. I only started with the last book, but I plan to go back to the beginning soon.
I listened to the audio of this one and Grover Gardner does an excellent job.

I did the audio on the first in the series Kristie. I can’t recall why - it may have been a YLTO challenge or I was in audiobook drought. Glad you liked - I did too. It was a fun listen and Tara was so woof!

No haven’t, but maybe I’ll look at the next one in the series now.

Nice review, Liz. It's always disappointing when a book has so much potential, but falls short.

I'm finally about to start These Silent Woods
. I'm excited for it, but a bit nervous too because friends have claimed it broke their hearts and gutted them. I guess I should have some tissues available for this one just in case.

I'm listening to Gilded
by Marissa Meyer.
I plan to either get back to Darkness Falls or start Wish You Were Here, which publishes the end of this month, in the next couple of days.
