Finally getting back to Reckless Girls today. Also, listening to a re-read of A Christmas Carol.

Lilisa | 575 comments I finished Home in the World: A Memoir. An average read and for readers connected with or interested in the author’s work and/or background. My review here: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

message 153: by Lilisa (new)

Lilisa | 575 comments Finished Khabaar: An Immigrant Journey of Food, Memory and Family. It was an okay read, could have been better! My review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

Lilisa | 575 comments I finished A Narrow Door. I enjoyed it! My review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

I’m going to start How To Live Icelandic as the publish date is Dec. 28.

Elyse (winesaboutbooks) | 1528 comments I'm 50% through The Last House on the Street. It's slow. I feel like that's the thing about Chamberlain's books.

I have not been reading at all! I'm hoping now that I'm home from my holidays I'll start picking things up again. I did listen to 72% of my Dark Horse audio during my 13.5 hour drive home yesterday. Now I need to find more shared audio time with my hubby so I can finish it!

message 157: by Tasha (new)

Tasha I've been reading Violeta by Isabel Allende and the words and story just flow so beautifully. I love her writing style.

Have you had a chance to read any of The Last House on the Street?

No, I haven't even picked up a book in a week. Pretty sad.

Tasha so sad. I hope you can get back to it asap!

message 163: by Tasha (new)

Tasha I love your review, Lilisa! Seriously makes me want to get the book. :)

message 164: by Tasha (new)

Tasha It's going to be $30 on amazon so I decided to request it on NG. lol

Thank you :) I just requested a couple of audiobooks for two of the books I have coming up. Hopefully they'll get approved (and quickly!). I can usually catch up faster with audios because I can listen while doing other things.

Great, that’s why I love audiobooks too. I’m all for multitasking!

Me too!

message 170: by Tasha (new)

Tasha Me too. My read books # is so high bc of the audios. Without audios my # would not be as impressive, lol.

Definitely! I'm so glad they added audios. :)

I ended up getting this one. I'll be reading it on the NG app as they don't seem to have it on kindle. Just took a peek and already I'm amazed at the photos!

I had to put aside all my NetGalley books in order to wrap up some reading challenges I'm doing. Once I get all the new threads organized in my groups I'll finally be ready to get back at it.

Elyse (winesaboutbooks) | 1528 comments I finished reading The Last House on the Street. 3 stars.
I listened to Botanical Curses and Poisons: The Shadow-Lives of Plants yesterday and today. 4 stars.

message 177: by Tasha (new)

Tasha Botanical Curses sounds so interesting. I'll keep that one on my radar.

Too bad about The Last House on the Street. I'm not sure I'm going to read that one, at least not in the near future.

I finished Dark Horse Dark Horse (Orphan X, #7) by Gregg Andrew Hurwitz . It was a good installment to the series, but not my favorite. I had a few minor issues. Still, it was a 4 star read and I'm still looking forward to the next book.

my Dark Horse review

message 182: by Tasha (new)

Tasha Great review, Kristie. I'm glad you are enjoying this series. I've never heard of it.

message 183: by [deleted user] (new)

Good series. I've been able to read the whole series through Netgalley thus far, this is next on my NG tbr and I'm looking forward to it.

message 184: by Kristie (new)

Kristie | 2899 comments Mod
Tasha, the series starts with Orphan X. It is one that you should definitely read in order.

Karen, I started with book #5 on NetGalley and had to go back to read the others first, so I binged on them. They were so good. I hate waiting a year for each new installment now. lol I hope you love it.

SeeJaneReadBooks | 3 comments yall- as a newbie. how do I tag the book in green like that?

message 189: by Kristie (new)

Kristie | 2899 comments Mod
You have to be online; the app doesn't have the feature. Just above the text box that you write in there is a link that says "add book/author." You click on that and can do a search for your book. When you find it, just click "add" and the html code for the book will be added to your comment.

A couple tips: You can switch to a different edition of the book by clicking on "other editions" below the add button or switch to the cover by switching the toggle just below the search from "link" to "cover." The link is the default. You can also look up authors the same way by selecting the author tab.

I love when that happens! My daughter was in a reading slump and I heard about a book on booktube that I thought she would like and she did, it got her out of her slump as well.

I hope you keep happily reading now that you are out of your slump!

Elyse (winesaboutbooks) | 1528 comments Listening to Like Cats and Dogs so that I can then listen to my overdue of What the Cat Dragged In! I didn't realize it was the second in a series so I nabbed the first from Hoopla.

I've had to do that before, Elyse. Then, I always hope it's good because I have two to read. I hope you enjoy them.

haha right? I'm definitely enjoying Like Cats and Dogs so win! I have a third book in a series ARC as well and luckily Hoopla has the audiobooks of the first 2 but unfortunately I've already borrowed my 3 for the month. D'oh!

Oh... oops. lol I didn't know they had a limit. I use Overdrive for my audio and ebook borrowing through my library. I can only put a hold on ten at a time, but I can borrow more than I'd ever be able to read. I have two books out now and the heading says, "You can borrow 998 more titles." lol Above that, it is trying to get me to add Libby.

Hoopla has a much larger library than Overdrive and there are no holds, everything is available. But you can only have so many borrowed per month, depending on your town library, you sync it just like Overdrive. The difference is that libraries pay for bulk licenses at once for Overdrive, 25 copies, 50 copies, but Hoopla charges the library per each actual borrow at a time, thus the limit.
