Tasha - Hope you enjoy the first book - Murder in Mykonos. I remember buying it at Heathrow Airport on route to Greece years ago :-) - so fitting. I’ve been a fan ever since.

Lilisa | 575 comments That’s disappointing Karen, esp since the blurb sounded interesting.

Lilisa | 575 comments Nice review of TGC, Kristie!

Lol - Scratch this post - read it already - was thinking of Breathless, which is on my list! 🤣 I liked Blackout. [ I have to start this one soon too, Tasha. How are you liking it so far?]

Thanks, Lilisa!

I received a widget for Blackout, but didn't accept. I keep going back to it because it looks interesting and there have been a lot of good reviews from my GR friends. I just don't think I can manage it by the pub date.

Tasha, a friend of mine just read The Real Valkyrie and thought it was excellent. Hope you enjoy it.

I love that you did that. I discovered a series when I was in New Orleans that I am slowly working my way through but I loved reading the first one while I was still in NOLA. A Free Man of Color

I just started but it seems good right from the start. :)

Lilisa | 575 comments Sounds like a good series, Tasha - will check it out.

Kristie - yes, too many books, too little time! My NG list is getting short as I haven’t requested much in the last few months - had too many other books and didn’t want to neglect NG dates. I’m going to NG browse…!

message 259: by Kristie (new)

Kristie | 2899 comments Mod
Oh, I can't wait to get there, Lilisa! My NG to-read shelf is getting low, but I have a LOT of books that I own and that I have paused holds on through my library that I need to get to. I want to read less NG until I get through some of those, then I'll request more again.

message 260: by Tasha (new)

Tasha I'm working down my list as well which feels good. I'm afraid to go NG browsing right now! lol Let us know what looks good to you Lilisa.

message 261: by [deleted user] (new)

Speaking of that .. I like to keep my NG list under 25 and I'm now down to 17. It's time for me to start browsing, lol.

message 262: by Kristie (new)

Kristie | 2899 comments Mod
If I finish all the NGs I want to this month without adding more, I will be down to only 3 or 4 on my shelf in April. However, I will be shocked if that happens. lol

message 263: by Kristie (new)

Kristie | 2899 comments Mod
I should mention that I also have other books for review, so my NG shelf isn't everything I need to get to.

message 264: by Tasha (new)

Tasha Do you do edielweiss (sp) too, Kristie. NG is my only one.

I have used EW, but I think I've only gotten two books from there and I never visit the site. I really only use NG.

message 266: by Dani (new)

Dani Boise | 3 comments I think I have found my people :D I also struggle with the back-and-forth between having library books that will expire and NG reads that are coming up on pub date, lol.

I'm currently reading Manhattan Cult Story (from NG) because cult stories fascinate me. However, I do have two library books on my kindle that have already expired so I want to get thru them before I turn it off airplane mode again. :)

meg (megyowbooks) | 4 comments I am trying to get ahead before exams. I'm reading "Easy Beauty" by Chloe Cooper Jones. I have 17 books on my shelf, 2 of which are going to be archived in the next month, 18 books reviewed and 1 book I won't review

I did not know this was a thing! LOL But it does make total sense now that I think about it.

Tasha Dani, Manhattan Cult Story: Abuse, Crime, Sex, and My Life inside a Secret Organization sounds SO good. I looked on NG and it's a READ NOW for anyone else interested. I grabbed a copy1

YES!! It is a game changer when I download too many books at once ;)
If you use Libby and read on Kindle you can send the book to your Kindle and immediately return in Libby. You will still have the book on your Kindle for the life of the loan (my library is 2 weeks). AND if you keep your Kindle on Airplane mode after downloading it will stay on your device until you turn off airplane mode (regardless if the loan expires during that time).

message 273: by Tasha (new)

The READ NOW titles are what get me "in trouble" with downloading too many LOL!! Glad you got a copy - we will have to share thoughts after reading <3

I do not do the airplane mode thing because I have guilt. lol I always feel like I should have read it sooner. The last book I had though, I probably only needed two hours to finish it, but I had something going on. I meant to use airplane mode, finish it when I was done my event, then return it just a few hours late. But, of course, I forgot to turn it on. Ugh. I needed to hop back on the waitlist, which was no fun.

This does sound good... oh, bother. lol

message 278: by Lilisa (new)

Lilisa | 575 comments Lol on all our NG lists!

Manhattan Cult Story: Abuse, Crime, Sex, and My Life inside a Secret Organization sounded interesting - downloaded!

Easy Beauty: A Memoir sounded interesting too, so requested it. Let’s see if I get approved. I requested two yesterday and got declined :-( nothing else sounded interesting to me, so my list is still fairly short!

message 279: by Elyse (new)

Elyse (winesaboutbooks) | 1528 comments Umm should we make a buddy read thread? I also nabbed Manhattan Cult Story. lol

message 280: by Tasha (new)

Tasha I think we should make that BR thread for MCS! We all caved, lol.

lol, Tasha! Oops.

I'll add a thread for MCS. I can put it on the schedule once you pick a date.

I'm a little over halfway done with it and it is really good!

I finished Holy Chow. my Holy Chow review

I am planning to start The Gatekeeper in a couple of days. I received a widget for this one just before it published (June 7th) so it's a bit late. I'm going to try to fit in before our buddy read of The Bodyguard. This is looking like it could be a decent month for me getting through some NG books.

message 289: by Tasha (new)

Tasha I'm not sure if I mentioned that I started George Michael: A Life. It's a long one so it may take me a while but it's interesting so far! I'm about 20% in.

I've started Fatal Witness Fatal Witness (Detective Erika Foster, #7) by Robert Bryndza . It is #7 of the Erika Foster series that started with The Girl in the Ice. I'm only 13% in, but it started off quickly.

message 297: by Tasha (new)

Tasha I hope you enjoy it, Karren. Sounds like a fun read and a great time period to read about, esp in NYC.

I've finally gotten back to Upgrade. I never finished it with the buddy read. I think I just haven't been much in the mood for it. Even now, while I'm reading it I think it's a good story, but I could still put it aside and forget about it. I'm not sure why that is. I think the writing is good so maybe it's just the subject or genre I haven't been in the mood for. Either way, I'm back at it and hoping to get through it in a few days since it has already published.

message 299: by Trisha (new)

Trisha | 1580 comments Fingers crossed it gets better for you!
