Not sure if this is the right place to be asking this question.
Some arsehole gave me a one star review via a fake profile because i said something on facebook he didn't like.
What, if anything, can i do about it?
Are there rules about this sort of thing?
I hate being a whiner and a dobber but the point of Goodreads is for book discussions not petty bullshit like this.

Try reaching out to Goodreads Help about it by using their online 'contact us' page:

They're very helpful. You could also 'Flag' the member, but I think contacting Goodreads Help is the better way to go.

Unless there's evidence of what they've done and their identity, Goodreads probably won't be able to do anything.

But if he's a 'fake' member, they can remove his profile.

He made a direct threat in his "review" surely that's a bridge too far?

It might be. You need to check with them and see what they say.

Ignore it…there’s always someone.
When looking at books, I personally take no notice of such low reviews unless there are many, your other reviews will show a true balance/average.

I flagged him already for the "I will ruin you" threat. Let's see if Goodreads does anything about it. That's just nasty - there's no need for it, especially on a site like this!!

They haven't really been doing anything with the flags for a while. Jodi's link in msg #2 is your best bet as that goes straight to support (staff).

Don't bother with GR Help as that is just a member forum.

I'm sorry this has happened to you Lewis, but unfortunately it's quite common. Idiots with nothing better to do with their time. The suggestions and link above are the best to follow, but most importantly, don't take it to heart. He/She is only one person and there will be many who properly rate your book/s. As Julie said, ignore it. I know it's hard, but it's for the best, and your own peace of mind.

Thanks Brenda, to further improve my mental health and avoid dealing with nutters i've just deleted my facebook as well. Social media is so overrated.
As for the bad review, that's life as an author i guess, got to take the rough with the smooth.

That's exactly right Lewis - for your mental health it's suggested you don't read the rubbish that's written with the low ratings :) Onward and upward!!
