I love thrillers and mysteries reading and following a wide variety of authors including other verticals.

I'm currently trying to read all the physical books that I have in the house (I don't keep books once I've read them) in order to move onto all the hundreds of ebooks that I have, but will in the future look at some of the authors listed 🙂.

I'm currently hooked on Lee Child. I read Killing Floor in January, which was my second. I just purchased the third book in the Jack Reacher series.

Loren Estleman - the first three novels in his Amos Walker private eye series (MOTOR CITY BLUE, ANGEL EYES, and THE MIDNIGHT MAN) were terrific and hooked me right away.

Lawrence Block - the first three books in the Matt Scudder series were excellent: THE SINS OF THE FATHERS, TIME TO MURDER AND CREATE, and IN THE MIDST OF DEATH.

James Lee Burke - the Dave Robicheaux series starting with THE NEON RAIN, HEAVEN's PRISONERS, and BLACK CHERRY BLUES.

The late Andrew Vachss and his outlaw Burke series starting with FLOOD, STREGA, and BLUE BELLE.

I keep this huge list of books I have ever read, not exactly every book because I used to read to my kids and I don’t count those books. So I took a look through my list just to see what authors really made an impact on my reading.

Jeffery Archer 21 books. Not totally a thriller writer but employs many of those elements in his generational sagas.

Harlan Coben 24 books. Not my favorite author but close.

Michael Connelly 35 books. Still not my favorite. Straight forward writing almost like his previous career as a journalist. Even had his Blue Neon DVD.

Robert Crais 22 books. One of my favorite authors. As is Connelly, an LA author. Take classic noir, modernize it, with a bit of PI sass as a prerequisite

Joseph Finder. 16 books. I will always read a Finder novel. I have one ARC and a bound uncorrected manuscript of his. Waiting on his next book.

Dennis LeHane 11 books. Another one of my favorite authors although I have not read all his books. To me, he is the best writer.

Robert B. Parker (RIP) A PI writer who doesn’t just write about a crime but life.

Authors of note: Don Winslow, John Sandford. Douglas Preston/Lincoln Child as together or single novels, and so many others that have left this world or I just haven’t returned to yet.
