I am picking from Peggy’s shelf. I have finally decided on The Book of Speculation Thanks, Peggy

I have Marie (UK)'s list to choose from. There are lots of interesting books on the list. I think I'll go with How to Love Animals: In a Human-Shaped World, which is on a subject I've been thinking a lot about recently. Or, I might read Shuggie Bain.

I'm not sure what I'm going to choose yet. I'm leaning towards The Housekeeper or The Book Woman of Troublesome Creek. I own both. I have to make sure that I don't need Troublesome Creek for my yearly challenge first though.

I'm also considering Beneath a Scarlet Sky, which I own and have been wanting to read, and 'Salem's Lot, which I can't believe I haven't read yet. I bought it year ago and lent it to someone, then never got it back. Somehow, I've never gotten around to finally reading it. I will definitely get to it some day, but it might be too long for next month. I'll see how much time I have before deciding.

So many interesting titles on Kristie's list and I'm lost.. till I found Things You Save in a Fire which I really want to read these days. Glad I haven't started it yet. If it doesn't work, there are still great books I can choose from!

How to love animals is soon on my TBR I have it to read for another challenge.

I'm picking from Cherie's list, and there are heaps of interesting books there that I've never heard of! Some great kids/teens books.

Hitting the Australian problem though of accessing them. Will keep investigating! But may take a while to pick.

I got to pick from Janice's list. The only book I own on the list is The Silent Patient but after this months thriller theme I am not in the mood for a thriller right now. However, I found The Hidden Palace on there which looks right up my ally but it is a sequel, so I am going to read the first book for this challenge which is The Golem and the Jinni. Thanks Janice!

I hope you enjoy The Golem and the Jinni. It was a near 5 stars for me. I'm wondering if I need to read it again as a refresher for when I read the follow up. :)

Cherie, that book has been on my TBR for awhile, and I don't know why I haven't gotten to it yet. I'll be interested to know what you think of it.

I'm kind of torn! Decisions are hard. I've been perusing Vicki's shelf and there are 4 possibilities. I have too many audiobooks planned for August, so would prefer an ebook unless I can read it for the toppler. I usually do audiobook for the topplers.

So, if I can work it into the toppler, I will read In the Blood on audiobook. If not, I will read Within These Walls. I own both of these books.

I was surprised that I had already read quite a few books on Vicki's shelf. We obviously have similar tastes in books. Goodreads says, "Your tastes are 81% similar for the books you both rated."

Anne has a handful of common books with my own lists- and I was excited to see The Four Winds by Kristin Hannah! I've been wanting to read it so bad.

Margo, I may be misunderstanding your post, but wanted to make sure you had the challenge straight. This is the opposite of what we did last month. Someone is choosing a book off your shelf for them to read and you are choosing a book off someone else's shelf to read yourself. So, we are choosing our own book off someone else's shelf, not choosing a book for someone else. Does that make sense the way I wrote it?

Edit - Just to clarify: Jayme will be reading The Space Between Worlds off your shelf and you will be reading whatever you choose off Jenn's shelf.

For ANYONE who struggles to find books i have found this site https://z-lib.org/ = z library Loads of downloadable e books for free. I have the link sent to my email and then download them on my ipad via ibooks. But they have PDFs and Mobi editions too

You have to pay to have them sent to Kindle

TrudyAn - I just put Crooked Letter, Crooked Letter on hold at my library. I am #1 on 1 copy for the ebook, so I should get it soon, I hope. I could but it and I will if I cannot get it by the middle of the month. 😊

Rusalka - I’m glad you found something on my list that you could get your hands on. I have the same issues with a lot of the Australian reads - they are just not always available for me. I have an Australia shelf too, if you wanted to pick from there. I saw a post about Autumn and I thought it sounded interesting. I will be interested in what you think. 😊

Lots of good books being picked. Many not on my TBR shelf but some are.

Me too! lol. Oh I understand it goes both ways, we are just so tinsey tiny in the massive markets.

I bought Autumn with some very very old google money that I didn't know was still available from 5 years ago or so, so better I use it before it disappears. So a service has been done lol

I loved Poet X by her, and I'm sure I will love listening to this one.. she's got such talent with spoken word poetry!

I got Marnie! Most of those books were new to me and my library is not the greatest for selection. I put 4 audiobooks on hold and The Power already came in so I think I am going to go with that one and I can start it on Sunday because I just finished my current audiobook.

I also borrowed The One and Recursion on paper in case it doesn't work out. I'm feeling like a sci-fi thriller

Pragya will pick from Emma R's shelf, and Emma will pick from Pragya!s. That worked out.

I think I am going to read The Housekeeper. It turns out that I need The Book Woman of Troublesome Creek for my yearly challenge and the other two books are pretty long. Of course, I may still change my mind because there were so many good options, but I'm pretty happy with this choice.

I just noticed that Velvet Was the Night is coming out in August and is on Jocelyn's shelf as well. I have been waiting for that one as I have loved all of Silvia Moreno-Garcia's books that I read. If I can get a copy from the library I will change my choice to this instead!

Christina’s shelf had so many options for me. I think I’m going to go with Cinder as I’ve been wanting to read it for a while now and now I have the motivation.
