Luis Contreras | 60 comments Some like it Hot is a 1959 Comedy directed by the greatest screenwriter of all time: Billy Wilder. It stars an Iconic cast of Marilyn Monroe, Jack Lemmon, and Tony Curtis. The film is often regarded as the greatest comedy of all time. the film follows two jazz musicians who witnessed a mob crime inspired by the Saint Valentines day Massacre. Once the mob finds out they were the only witnesses, Joe (Tony Curtis) and Jerry (Jack Lemmon) try to dress in drag and join a touring women's jazz band in order to run away from the mob.

This movie despite being made in the late 50s with the Hay's code still around was extremely progressive with it's themes of cross dressing and homosexuality. Despite it's dark opening, the film is filled with hilarious scenes that get funnier the longer you watch it with the funniest and most ballsy joke being saved for the end. Jack Lemmon and Tony Curtis make the perfect duo and have great chemistry arguing. Marilyn Monroe does also a great job being one of the main actors and showing off her acting skills. The script being written by Billy Wilder and I. A. L. Diamond is so bold and well executed for something that started from the basic idea of men arguing in women's clothes.

I rate this movie a 4.5 stars for how bold and progressive it was for it's time and how consistent the humor is.
