Karen M | 1436 comments 10% into (obviously reading on a Kindle) How to Find Your Way Home by Katy Regan which I won in a FR giveaway. I am antipating some sadness while reading this book because of what I've read so far.

I just put in on my "next read" list. The summary sounds intriguing.

PamG (lynguy1) | 977 comments Here is my 4 star review of Blue Fire Blue Fire (Victoria Emerson, #2) by John Gilstrap by John Gilstrap.
I’ve seen it classified as post-apocalyptic, political thriller, and action thriller among others. Those are all fitting classifications to me. It's shocking, disturbing at times, suspenseful, and definitely pulse accelerating.

Karen M | 1436 comments I'm reading Love & Saffron: A Novel of Friendship, Food, and Love by Kim Fay and it's just wonderful. It's written in epistolary style (letters). The correspondence is between to two woman who've never met and yet they become friends.

Meg (makeli2) | 2322 comments Brenda and Karen M, you both have me intrigued, though Snow Creek might be a little too heavy for me. I've added the books to my WL, but I'll have to think a bit more about the latter.

I hope you enjoy it if you give it a try Meg. I like the crime/mystery/thriller genre so my first taste of Olsen was good. It mightn't suit you though :)

Love & Saffron won't be on sale until February 8, 2022 but it is just the loveliest book. It's a quick read about 200 pages.

Now I'm reading To Live and Die In The Floating World by Stephen Holgate. This one is a thriller, French Mafia, canal barge, pretty girl in trouble and broke rich boy. LOL

Have been reading The Gambler by Fyodor Dostoevsky the last few days, another of this month’s classic group selections. I was unimpressed with the first third, but the pace picked up quite a bit in the middle section read today. I’m down to the last fifty pages and anxious to have this one done.

Couldn’t sleep last night, so ended up finishing The Gambler. Liked it more than I thought I would, and the ending certainly leaves you with a lot of “what ifs.”

Finished the last three short stories in Flappers and Philosophers by F. Scott Fitzgerald this afternoon. I started this collection of short stories last year, so nice to Mark it as done.

PamG (lynguy1) | 977 comments I finished The Investigator The Investigator by John Sandford by John Sandford. This is the first book in a new series by Sandford. It features Letty Davenport as the main character.

Overall, this was suspenseful, unsettling, and action packed with compelling characters that kept me turning the pages. With a heart-rending plot, exciting scenes, and fascinating story, it captivated and terrified me. It’s a great start to a series and I’m looking forward to reading more about Letty and her future assignments.

Barb | 1192 comments Wow, for anyone who appreciates how hard it would be for a young black man from a poor family to make it in the world of classical music, and who would cringe at the thought of a Stradivarius violin being stolen, I high recommend The Violin Conspiracy, by Brendan Slocumb. At the publisher's request, I can't post my review until the book is released on Tuesday (Feb. 1), but the author did a fantastic job with this story.

Finished Blonde with a Wand by Vicki Lewis Thompson last night, a fun and quirky romance. It’s one-half of my “duology” for the Popsugar reading challenge. Now I need to work Chick with a Charm into the reading queue! 😶

I gave it a four star. It's my first non-fiction book I've ever read. I might think of exploring that genre more now.
