If you're concerned about the environment, capitalism, consumerism, fast fashion, etc. this is a great book. It really has me rethinking a lot about what I buy and why I buy it.

PamG (lynguy1) | 977 comments I can now post my review of Vital Lies Vital Lies by Daniel Pyne by Daniel Pyne. This spy thriller is the second book in the Sentro spy thriller series. This book has a clever plot with enough twists to keep a reader guessing. A memorable opening scene immediately pulls any reader into the story. One thing that detracted from the flow of the novel was the continual jumping around in time and points of view (POV) during the first half or so of the story. While POVs continued to change later, it flowed better for me.

The author brings plenty of suspense and some action, as well as an edginess, to the fourth book in the Detective Inspector (DI) Louise Blackwell series set in and near the seaside town of Weston-super-Mare in England. A strong, intriguing, and memorable opening scene will immediately pull many readers into the story. Overall, this was a gripping and chilling story with complex characters.

Barb | 1192 comments Currently reading an ARC of Dark Night, the newest in Paige Shelton's Alaska Wild series. It's not really a cozy series, but I like it a lot. I'm trying not to get too attached to it, though, because she doesn't seem to let her series run much longer than 4-5 books, so it will likely end soon.

The author brings murder, kidnapping, storms, ghosts, suspense, romance, and action to her latest book in the Ghost Hunters paranormal romantic suspense series set in Illusion Town on the colony world of Harmony. Readers can easily imagine a Las Vegas –like setting with weddings, bright lights, and casinos, but combined with unpredictable weather, prospectors, an underground city built by aliens with lots of paranormal activity, and plenty of criminals. brings murder, kidnapping, storms, ghosts, suspense, romance, and action to her latest book in the Ghost Hunters paranormal romantic suspense series set in Illusion Town on the colony world of Harmony. Zermeena | 344 comments I finished The Thousand-Dollar Tan Line which is more noir than cozy. If you loved the Veronica Mars TV show, then you will love this book. It seamlessly picks up where the movie left of. I listened to the audio book and Kristen Bell's narration is amazing. The mystery was complex with many layers. And of course Veronica is the only one persistent enough to unravel all the clues.

Mark - I just started watching the final season. It's interesting to see how Veronica and Logan have evolved. I will brace myself, but I'm sure there will be tears at the end. 😥 Definitely not cozy. I think of it as noir, so no happy endings.

It gives readers a view of East Texas in 1931 when a huge oil field has been found and towns are exploding with people, oil wells, and the good and bad that came with it.
