Now that you mention it, I am not sure anymore. I searched for disability books list on GR and found Eleanor Oliphant Is Completely Fine.
I see that one of the others listed Love Anthony, which is tagged 'Autistic Spectrum Disorder'. On similar grounds, 'Mental Health' should qualify. But technically, 'Disability' is not in the first ten tags. :/

Lynn, a quick question. Would Eleanor Oliphant Is Completely Fine qualify for "8. Superhuman Day"?

message 17: by Lynn, Moderator (new)

Lynn | 4467 comments Mod
Quote (UK government website): A mental health condition is considered a disability if it has a long-term effect on your normal day-to-day activity. This is defined under the Equality Act 2010. Your condition is 'long term' if it lasts, or is likely to last, 12 months.

As I've read Eleanor I can say that it fits the above criteria, so in this case I will allow despite not having the main page tag.

Hi Lynn -
I just read Love Anthony by Lisa Genova. Anthony is a boy with autism. Here in the US, autism is defined as a "neurological developmental disability" by the US Dept of Labor, the CDC, and the Social Security Administration. So while the book itself may not have the GR main tag of "Disability" (although it was on one of the sub-lists), it should be like Eleanor Oliphant Is Completely Fine.

I loved it... I think you are right that it's interesting to imagine someone who thinks like her.. Although as we read further, we will know what makes her think like that and it will make it easy to understand.
Anyway, I am gonna wait for you to finish before I say more! :)
