wow... that was an excellent little choreographed tragedy. compact, yet heavy. thanks for that link kris.

amazon has some used at reasonable prices. i may have to get them sent to my parents home as a christmas gift to myself, though it might prove to be a depressing gift given what i've read about stig dagerman... still, i'm intrigued.

Bonita (NMBonita) | 120 comments Wow. This guy could write.

From Wikepedia: The most famous of Dagerman’s short stories, “Att döda ett barn” (“To Kill A Child”), exemplifies the strong influence of film on his writing. In image after image, it portrays in riveting detail how a series of perfectly ordinary events can be a prologue to horror.

Yeah, now I feel guilty for ranting against them yellow buses with the signs although I think the mother should have taught the child to look both ways before crossing the street.

Kris has left the building and along with him went a few posts... here's the link to the short story To Kill a Child. It is short short. It is good good.

I'm in the middle of his book A Burnt Child... A wife dies, a mother dies, the son and father take the death on different terms. It's a slow and beautiful read so far. The tension is building slowly, the spring is getting tight. Something's got to give soon.
