A reminder: This challenge is based on the basic theme of completing a combination of stones i.e, following the order- Cheapest- Semi Precious- Precious. An individual combination depends on the said person and a team combination is pre-defined. However, if an individual collects an odd number of stones, then the extra stones will be counted for scores as well, for eg., if an individual reads 7 books in total, they can make 2 combos of 3 books each and the 7th book can be counted as individually collected.

Ahoy! This September we bring you our Pirate Challenge where you and your crew fill up your treasure chest by collecting various gemstones. Read the books to fulfill criteria, and the gemstones are yours for the taking!
Challenge runtime 5th September to 5th October
Type: Team
About the challenge:
1. Each crew will have 3 members.
2. You have to make combinations of these gemstones and collect as many combinations as you can.
3. Each combination is made of one cheap stone, one semi-precious stone and one precious stone.
4. The book you read needs to match a few criteria. Each stone has a set of criteria, and each stone type has a minimum number of criteria that are compulsory to fulfil. If you fulfil more, you get more points.
5. Once you fulfil the minimum criteria, you officially collect that stone.
6. After you collect one of each type of stones (cheap, semi-precious and precious), a combination is made. For each combination made, extra points are added (See scoring).
7. For the individual scoring, you have to read one book for one stone, so a total of 3 books to make a combination. You can choose any of the cheap, semi-precious and precious stones to make combinations, just make sure that you use 1 from each type.
8. For the team scoring, there are a set of 8 pre-defined combinations. To complete a combination each team member has to read for one stone type. So, each person for a team combination reads one book.
For example, the combination is Jade-Turquoise-Sapphire. Person A will read Jade, Person B will read Turquoise, Person C will read Sapphire and thus a combination is complete.

Amber - Turquoise - Taaffeite
Lapsis - Aquamarine - Sapphire
Rose Quartz - Spinel - Ruby
Jade - Peridot - Emerald
Quartz - Opal - Diamond
Citrine - Agate - Musgravite
Zircon - Amethyst - Alexandrite
Jasper - Tourmaline - Tanzanite
Rules:
1. Only books finished on or after 5th September can be logged in for the challenge
2. Each team has to make minimum 2 combinations
3. Each individual has to make minimum 1 combination that are not part of the team combination
4. A book read can be part of either the individual combination or team, not both.
5. Webtoon/webcomics will not be counted for this challenge
6. Please sign up if you are sure you want to participate because if you leave the challenge in the middle, it will affect your team as a whole. The challenge is based completely on team members finishing the tasks in an order
Scoring:
- Cheap stone (To collect a cheap stone, any 1 out of 4 criteria need to be completed.)
For finishing 1 criterion - 1 point
For finishing 2 criteria - 2 points
For finishing 3 or more criteria - 3 points
- Semi-precious stone (To collect a semi-precious stone, any 2 out of 6 criteria need to be completed.)
For finishing 2 criteria - 2 points
For finishing 3 criteria - 4 points
For finishing 4 criteria - 6 points
For finishing 5 or more criteria - 8 points
- Precious stone (To collect a Precious stone, any 2 out of 8 criteria need to be completed.)
For finishing 3 criteria - 3 points
For finishing 4 criteria - 6 points
For finishing 5 criteria - 9 points
For finishing 6 criteria - 12 points
For finishing 7 or more criteria - 15 points
- Once you finish an individual combination, you get additional 5 points
- Once you finish a team combination, you get additional 10 points
Extra scoring:
- September BOTM: Each book read by a participant will give 10 points to the team. It won’t be counted under any prompt. Additionally, the participant should also participate in the BOTM discussion. If the participant chooses to include the BOTM as part of the combinations then it will not get any BOTM points.
- Buddy Read: 3 points
- Review: 2 Points
- Page Count Scoring:
For every book above 300 pages-
301-400: 2 points
401-500: 3 points
501-600: 4 points
601-700: 5 points
701 and above: 7 points
Team Leader
There will be one team leader per team. Their duties include:
- Make sure each entry made by team members and the corresponding points are correct.
- Ensure that each member follows the rules of the challenge.
- If a member is absent in the team/not contributing to the team you can contact them/inform Mods.
- Keep a track of total team points.
