Joseph | 1651 comments Since it was May the Fourth last week, I started Star Wars: The High Republic: Light of the Jedi by Charles Soule, the first of the High Republic novels (set a couple hundred years before the events of the movies).

Elise (ghostgurl) | 1028 comments I recently finished The Lost Years. There seemed to be a difference in maturity level between the first half and the second. It was OK, started off strong, but don’t feel compelled to continue the series.

Started The Legacy of Molly Southbourne.

message 256: by Joseph (new)

Joseph | 1651 comments Reading Guy Gavriel Kay's brand new one, All the Seas of the World.

message 257: by Joseph (new)

Joseph | 1651 comments Finished All the Seas of the World, which was deeply good, and started Poul Anderson's Three Hearts and Three Lions, which I've inexplicably never read before.

Elise (ghostgurl) | 1028 comments Finished The Legacy of Molly Southbourne and didn't love it, but at least it came to an end. I think.

Now starting Witchmark.

message 260: by Joseph (new)

Joseph | 1651 comments Started Volkhavaar by Tanith Lee.

My main quibble was that her husband walked out on her and many years later she still ignored advisers (Queen, arranged marriage) and staring you in the face logic, to go back to him. Nearly dying and losing her kingdom umpteen times in the process. I just wanted her to learn! It was okay - not sure the narrator helped. I won’t read book 2.

message 271: by Aaron (new)

Aaron (zalejin) | 248 comments That does sound like a frustrating read. Dumb logic for plot is never great.

It became more and more irritating.

I didn’t like witchmark, everyone in a buddy read loved it!

Daniela | 1 comments Currently reading Mythago wood! https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2... . It’s been on my tbr for a few years now.

message 289: by Joseph (new)

Joseph | 1651 comments I read Mythago Wood many, many years ago -- I should revisit it at some point.

Myself, I'm on to The Mezentian Gate, the third of E.R. Eddison's Zimiamvia trilogy. (Sadly, he died before completing it, but he'd written a good chunk of the beginning, the last couple of chapters, and some parts of the middle, and left a detailed enough outline that you can at least see where the story would have been going.)

message 290: by Elise (new)

Elise (ghostgurl) | 1028 comments Finished The Hod King yesterday. This one was slower. Wanted more of a balance between the POVs, but I still really enjoyed it. I've heard mixed things about the final book, which makes me nervous, but I'm still planning on getting around to it in the near future.

In the meantime, I've started Gallant.

message 292: by Elise (new)

Elise (ghostgurl) | 1028 comments I finished Crooked Kingdom last night, which was fantastic.

Elise (ghostgurl) | 1028 comments I just finished Gallant. Unfortunately, I didn't like it too much.

Started Upgrade.
